chiliwili69 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Oculus own assessment is that it's 3x as demanding as 1080p Hey SharpeXB, this 3x should be read like "running the CV1 at 90Hz cost 3 times running a 2D monitor 1080p at 60Hz" What I was doing in the test was finding a resolution in BOS as demanding as the CV1. And then look at the fps that I can get. Everybody in this forum can set up the BOS to 2560x1600 and check the fps that then can get. So they can "estimate" what fps they will have with the CV1 with BOS. Of course, on the unlikely case that BOS support the rift.

Here's a really good explaination from an ED tester regarding performance issues. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2750192&postcount=27 Edited April 24, 2016 by SharpeXB
Tomsk Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) So I recently got my Rift and I have to completely agree with the OP. There is no going back, I am simply enjoying flying with it so much I can't imagine flying without it. I've been mostly flying in War Thunder, even though WT has numerous issues, just because it has Rift support and you can easily find other people playing it. I'd love to fly BoS, or CloD, or DCS but DCS doesn't have many populated servers and BoS and CloD have no Rift support (yet). People have often said it's not competitive because of the resolution. That has not been my experience in War Thunder, I've actually become a lot more competitive since moving to the Rift. Yes you have less resolution for spotting, but you are looking with two eyes and I've actually found spotting easier because of that. My sense of space in dogfights has also been massively improved, I don't lose my contacts nearly as often because I can just "sense" where they are in a way I couldn't with TrackIR. My aim is also better, being able to judge distance apparently really helps a lot with leading correctly. You might think various things about the experience wouldn't be good enough ... but for me all that disappeared as soon as I sat there, feeling like I was in a real plane, flying. Urra Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Ok. Oculus is actively trying to ensure they sell the least number of rifts possible. In my humble opinion. So they recently have enough in stock to ship immediately. Great. They even have enough to stock select Bestbuys. Great. Those that originally did demos. So today I walk into one of those, after having looked online to check that officially they are listed as not available in any store in the US. Well guess what, they are. The oculus hired demo guy that was there is standing next to a dummy set all day, guarding it.(he used to do actual demos) He proceeded to tell me that he can show me a demo of a real unit if I want to but he has to get it out of storage and set it up for me. Umm, how long will that take? He also tells me the store has them in stock but only in storage (probably deep under ground). Why can't they show in stock online? And why can't there be at least one in the thick safety glass cabinet ready for a customer when there is a demo guy from the company standing there all day making sure the nonworking display unit doesn't get stolen? There are more expensive items all around me. This is all so illogical it gives one a headache. They are actually trying their best not to sell em. My 15 minute impression.
Urra Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Cuddling with a warm gray alien by the fireplace... Is what we must look forward to.
