seafireliv Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Had an LA5 fighter bomber mission to knock out locomotive. Gotta admit I love the LA5. Not as good as the fn, but it still gives the Axis a run for their money compared to the other VVS and it just feels... comfortable. Anyway, me and my 1 wingman went in for the train while 4 escourt fight migs dealt with the attacking 109s. They did a great job keeping away the 109s too as I was completely unimpeded in my attack. Unfortunately, while the train was easy to spot, hitting it was another story. I missed with the bombs, hit and disabled every single carriage with guns, but could I get the engine itself? No. Eventually I let impatience take over and carelessly skimmed the tree tops, knackering the engine and prop. I glided a bit then landed between the trees right next to the train line. It was funny cos as I sat there, among the tall grass and bushes, annoyed, I could hear the train`s horn as it approached my position. That was very immersive. On a replay, I was impressed to see how much work had been put on the train, with all the trainy bits animated and the way the carriages moved separately like on a real train. I`m not sure it would be able to continue moving if a carriage was wrecked though. Also liked how the train AA had troops on them that had to actually rotate to a firing solution. 3
ShamrockOneFive Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Pretty good eh? The dev team have done an excellent job with the little details. Even the suspension bits on vehicles (tanks, halftracks, cars, etc.) are very well modelled. You don't see them from up high really but it definitely makes it much more immersive when you zoom in. Its nice to see that kind of attention to detail. The same goes for the trains! 1
