I think BOS is King of User-friendliness. There are NO other Current Sims that make it so easy to set your Controls and Go Fly.

I have around 10 different planes to fly in BOS. Some have Cowl Flaps, Some have Radiators !.

This how BOS has got this Right : If I lost all my Control assignments now, I could go to the BOS Menu and within 15-30 minutes I could have ALL of my Ten planes Ready to fly.

And the secret is the Ability to Double-Bind in the Menu. I can start Scrolling Down through the menu and Bind The same Joystick Button to multiple Functions. I will have an Orange  "X" next to "Those Functions", but at the end of the Day, one ,none or all of those Bindings apply depending on which cockpit I jump in.

I can just Scroll down and Save. How good is That ?

Only Downside for double Binding is New pilots to BOS. Check that you haven't Bound things already when you get "strange" behavior !

BOS you got this Right by a Mile !

I also agree on the benefits of 'double binding' and multiple keys/buttons for one binding

The key mapping menu has seen a lot of refinement which has made it a lot more user friendly, credit where credit is due  :)

Also agree that care must be taken with double binding, had an embarrassing (non)takeoff last night which luckily was only witnesses by one person, due to my incompetence and haste (actually a failing mouse button sensor  ;)  LOL)

Well I don`t know... I was about to stick up a thread about how this game hates going into the controller settings. Yesterday, i was getting crashes every time I went into the controller settings just to change something. Today my rudder pedals arrived and boy was the game upset. I set the rudder right and rudder left- crash. Go back in, reset the right rudder. Set the left rudder, please don`t crash to desktop- CRASH. Go back finally set them. Now for the toe brakes, set right toe brake- crash! Back in again set right toe brake. Rudder is a little too sensitive on flight testing, go into settings to change sensitivity, start changing- CRASH!

The good news is, it did remember them bit by bit and once flying proper it was ok, but she don`t like me going into her settings!

I finally got to experience the new improvement to the joystick mapping system. It will not lose your joystick assignments like before. I reinstalled some Logitech software and sure enough it changed my joy#s. But BoS did not lose my assignments. After a few restarts Windows set them back to the original # but BoS held the assignments every time. Brilliant!

Kameraden,

So they fixed the Saitek SST incompatibility? I can use Modes and do multiple keystroke bindings? At the moment I am running with the software disabled and HOTAS buttons mapped directly, which was a real pain to setup and being stuck in Mode 1 for everything.

Just need a save settings button now and I'm glad the original poster is so excited, but saying it's the best ever is a stretch as many games have worked from day one.

I notice that you are using a Thrustmaster Warthog, I also use a Warthog HOTAS and use the TARGET script editor to set it's buttons and whatever.

I cannot get BOS to recognise elevator trim bindings for the Focke-Wolfe or the BF109.

In the settings menu it picks up the keys correctly but they do not work at all when in the cockpit.

Have you had this issue with your Warthog and if so what was your solution?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I quite prefer the system in RoF.

Overall it has a far more polished appearance and I like the interface FAR more than BoS&M.

Personal preferences and all that, but for adjusting joystick sensitivity and curves they are both still way behind il2 '46

I notice that when you reassing keys/buttons or axis (Bf 109) for trim is need restart the mission for this changes make effect.

Thanks Sokol1,

The issue still exists after restarting the game, but I should clarify my explanation. If I use the games default keybinds for the BF109 and the FW190 the trims activate too quickly making it almost impossible to achieve fine control of trim settings, as an example.

If I try to set +5% trim it will jump so fast to +10% or +15% which is way too much then, when I try to reduce or correct it the same thing happens in reverse, causing the plane to pitch then dive and then pitch then dive and so on.

Try another approach, make the target software send a "pulse" command to the HOTAS. Perfect it works in target and BOS picks up the command in the settings screen as expected.

Save and exit, restart BOS, select BF109, load quick mission or multiplayer and finally arrive in cockpit, try trim and nothing, it doesn't work at all.

The Sim doesn't detect a "pulse signal" sent from the Warthog HOTAS, this is totally inconsistent with the rest of the keybinds for the Sim because it does detect pulse commands sent to at least 9 other keybinds, eg (pulse "E") to start engines works perfectly.

If it doesn't work for me what is it I'm doing wrong, do other Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog owners have this issue, this has been a major frustration for as long as I have had BOS installed.
