Monday Night Normal Flights

Monday Night Normal Flight:

So, there are many of us who don’t want to fly for hours to get into the fight. For those, there is the Expert server. For the others, who want to dance, the 1CGS/Normal server is the ticket.

It is true there are plenty of new pilots there and some of the teamwork is lacking but……………..that is our own damn fault. There is a dedicated TeamSpeak channel available for free. Just, almost no one uses it. FNBF/SNBF sounds great but it just doesn't work for my schedule. I propose MNNF. (Could be Sunday or Tuesday if that works better as well.)

Don’t discount the pilots over in Normal either. Some are very good and many moonlight there from WOL and Expert servers when they just want a bit of action. The Normal server is more about the maneuvering fight than the historical bounce but the individual pilots tend to be very good.

My mates and I are now flying co-operatively in Normal on comms and having a bit of success with it. Moreover the flying has become exponentially more fun.

It is clear the Allied pilots fly on comms and set mission objectives for themselves. There used to be a really great group of Allied pilots, =13IAP=, but they have moved on and I miss them dearly J .

The Allied side is better than we Lufties at the tank and ground support missions. In fact, they often win the round by being much better at the ground and ground support roles.

While admitting a Monday Night Normal Flight would exclude many North American guys who aren’t old, retired, work weird schedules, etc, it's when my group is able to get together. I’m in the weird schedule category. We also fly on Sundays and Tuesdays. If that works better overall then we could explore that as well.

The numbers in the server are usually good between 1900-2200 GMT. Mid to high twenties with tanks, ground attack (mostly Allied) and plenty of fighters. Filling the server would be awesome. And this isn’t just about the Lufties. As in any server, upping the numbers on both sides would be great. Fighting unit v unit would be fun as well.

What is lacking on the Luftie side are KG and ZG units to fulfill the ground support role. There are a few Stuka drivers but they usually fly solo at low altitude and are cannon fodder for the Yaks/Las/etc. It pains me to see an He 111 take off and fly directly at the furball at 1000m. My group would be happy to allow you to set up and make an oblique approach at a reasonable altitude. We’d be happy to escort and give the Allied tankies a bit of their own medicine. At least a pair of bomber/ground support up to as many as would like to participate would be welcome.

So, any 110/88/111 pairs up to the task? We’d love to have you and it would make the Normal server more fun overall. It isn't about hardcore simulation but it is about rounding out the gameplay a bit more and being FUN.

Additionally, my group is currently a dedicated trio but are actively seeking a permanent fourth to complete a schwarm. We fly cooperatively but don’t do the hardcore thing regarding enforced tactics or rank.

Really, not even a nibble from a 110/88 driver? Even a newbie or a pair looking for an escort? Well I hope people come fill up the server nonetheless. It is good fun for action junkies and some of us are bringing teamwork back to the DF/Normal server.

I'm working on Mondays during those hours.

What about Sundays during those hours?

We meet less formally on Sundays but could tighten that up if we get some interest.

We do fly on Sundays (not every Sunday), so it might be possible. We were doing something similar with JG53 where they would provide us escorts (on Sundays early afternoon Pacific time).

I prefer the normal servers,I don't really enjoy flying for hours and seeing nothing. I'm not sure why most people fly in expert. It's not really more of a challenge in fact the dog fights in expert are way easier.

How so? Dog fights are easy in expert half the time the other pilot doesn't even see you. I shot down a Yak the other day I just slid in behind him got about 50 yards away and opened up with my 20s and 30s. He was in little pieces before he even knew I was there. The only difference is that you have to look around all the time in expert looking for specs to kill Edited by II./JG53Lutzow_z06z33

Let's not go into "Normal sucks Expert rulz" kind of discussion, that's already been done several times.

My problem with the one normal server that is available is the missions. It all depends on the play area. Too small and it's just meaningless rushing into the meat grinder. Many of the post-tanks missions are like that. On the other hand I had some pretty fun dogfights on a mission on V-Luki. When you log on to DED Normal, you never really know what you will be getting. I don't want to commit to anything unless I know we'll be playing on a sensible mission.

If my schedule weren't so damned unpredictable I'd love to be involved with this. Normal is a great mode to fly on!

I'm hugely in favour of the concept ... I just can't commit to times.

Uhh...and you also have to keep you head on a swivel to make sure you're not about to get jumped.

FYI - sneaking up on someone's 6 and hosing them is a legit, historical, and great tactic  - but that's not a "dogfight"

Icons prohibit realistic tactics for the most part, although that kind of server can be fun too - just depends on my mood.

Anyway Shamrock - that's me as well.

I never know when I'll be able to fly, so I can't commit to anything even remotely organized at this point.

I''m out for Sunday this week but will be on Monday. Next week maybe we can try to organize a Sunday flight.

HerrMurf - will you be using voice comms to co-ordinate?

My little flight has been using the axis Portugeuse channel on the official TS channel. It never seems to be occupied otherwise.

We might be a little late tonight as well +/- 30 mins.

Why not go to coconuts server? He has nice missions running there, also Moscow map included now, and some AI flying around in formations for the target rich environment when there is not enough humans to shoot at. Tankers included  :salute:

why not go to ZG26s server, i heard they want to stress test it today ;)
