SCG_Neun Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 This is really weird, but my server is up and running and guys can log into the server, mission loads fine, spawn into server, but we can't see each other. We can take off...fly, land, shoot...but it's like we are in separate worlds. I've checked ports, firewall, virus software, downloaded game again....turned this off, that off..this on...that on. Still, same problem. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks. Neun
coconut Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Just a guess, but what did you set the upload limit to? I suppose if you set it to -1 or 0, the server would not send any updates to any client. But it's just a guess, not something I have observed.
coconut Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) In the SDS, right? The same settings are also in startup.cfg, but they are for the client (which can be confusing, because AFAIK DServer actually uses that file too, for e.g. logs). 1000 is for 1Mbit/s, it seems a little low, but it should be enough for a few people. Other guess: the UDP port is not opened/forwarded properly? I think connecting uses primarily TCP, meaning if TCP is properly forwarded but not UDP, maybe you'd see that problem. It could also be the router. Maybe it thinks that if a port is used for TCP it's not also used for UDP. Or some other issue :/ Edited April 8, 2016 by coconut
SCG_Neun Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 Well..after all the time spent it turns out that the UDP port did not have the firewall opened from our office. Our server is located at our business location and our computer IT man rechecked the line and found out that he didn't have the firewall settings configured properly. Oh well...It's working now, that's all I care about. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it. Coconut your last comment there pointed right to that UDP.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 -snip- I think connecting uses primarily TCP, meaning if TCP is properly forwarded but not UDP, maybe you'd see that problem. -snip- Actually, that makes perfect sense. -snip- It's working now, that's all I care about. -snip- Woo!
