Great skins guys!

Just a couple of updates to the KG54 skin. Some minor changes and a winter paintover.

I also updated the link in the original post :salute:

EDIT: Just a final edit to these skins. Both links have been updated.

I updated the original post with the emblem and an uncensored version.

Glad you all are using my emblems. I put a lot of work into those. Please enjoy them.

Great job with those!

Is it the one I attached? I wasn't sure.

Hi Jade_Monkey. No, don't use that on a Ju 88. It was in use only until late 1940, when KG 3 was reequipped with the Ju 88 it discarded the previously used heraldics and introduced a new "Lightning" badge like this one:

Great job on the weathering too! Can you tell me what kind of yellow line is it in front of the codes near the wings?

It is as pictured in the attached image. Depending on what type of film solution used for photo development; yellow often turned out dark or even black. I think it was developed with silver nitrate I believe. Can someone correct me?

To DBS_Prody,

The Romanian skin is finish but I encountered a problem in the template or in the way the template is imported to the model:

You can see in the pics that the support of the nose mounted machine gun has a fancy yellow-blue color. Its not my intention to do that on purpose but for an unknown reason, the left lower wing(in the national marking location) is the one that gives the color to the nose mount.

Same happens with the Hungarian skin(base game one). You can clearly see that in the viewer(it will appear white in this particular case). Is not a problem with the German planes thus the Balkan Creuz is black in the area.

If you are still interested I will update the post with the link to the aircraft PSD.

Regards,

Peter

Hi gents,

This is an aircraft from KG30. I have it in a booklet with not much information; looks like is in a PARM or repair facility of some sort and you can only see the forward part. Registration is unknown. I just give her 4DEH..

-----------------------------

For installation please read the following:

You cannot have both skins installed at the same time(due to they both share the same designation). You need to choose which one to use.

If you want to install the base game censored skin(like the one in the pics), copy and paste the PSD file located on the Standard skin folder.
If you want to install the Historical skin, copy and paste the PSD file located on the Swastika skin folder.

Installation root should be something like this(depending of each user): E/..../IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad/data/graphics/skins/ju88a4
Paste the file there.
File is compressed in 7.z

-----------------------------

Hope you like it ;)

Credits to: 777 for the excellent skin template and 6./ZG1=SPEKTRE76 for the restored logos of the KG30, which I use in this skin.

EDIT: Version 1.1; changed the nose insignia with the proper white background. Thanks to CS_Thor for the correction.

Is it possible that it was an id band like, but later moved to the tail?

Hi Peter,

very nice skin! As always fantastic job mate!

Great you are doing some 88.

@  Peterla

Die Eagle batch on the nose of your latest Ju 88 is of Stab/KG 30 while the umbrella badge on the engine is of 1./KG 30. When you look at the colour photo you posted you'll notice that the Eagle is superimposed on a white shield with black outline (the emblem of I./KG 30). So the Eagle badge on your skin needs to be changed (only white background).

Additionally I believe that Ju 88 is an A-1, because IIRC 1./KG 30 used that umbrella badge only until late 1940 but I'm not 100% sure on this.

Hi Thor,

I misinterpreted the picture. I trully believe that was some kind of defect in the picture.

I think Spektre has another simbol with full white insignia. I will change it asap. Thanks for the tip.

Regards,

EDIT: PSD corrected. See post above. Same download link. Nose insignia changed with the proper one. Luckily Specktre made them both. S!

No this was painted on after the application of RLM 21. The thick theater band is still there it is just overs prayed.

Fellow skinners. Let's make skin packs out of these.

I'll do 8./KG76.

Pssst: The german bombers operated on a 3-plane base called "Kette", not the Schwarm-type of the fighters with 4 aircraft. ;)

Attached to this post I have put together the emblems of the Kampfgeschwader which used the Ju 88 which I already have made (way back for CloD)- of course only the emblems that could be found on a Ju 88 post-1940. Please note:

1.) KG 51's Gruppen are differentiated by the coloured outline of the blue shield. This is not 100% proven but there are several pictures that show a difference in the outline between aircraft of at least II. and III./KG 51.

2.) The shield of III./KG 77 is one possibility - the other is a white shield with a yellow outline and a yellow flag. It may be that III./KG 77 utilized that other variant on its Do 17 prior to conversion to the Ju 88.

3.) There are various pictures showing the skull of KG 54 facing in both directions. I've added a quick-n-dirty yellow skull because I've seen that one as well. There were also variations with a small skull on a coloured shield, but I don't have something like this ready.

SIXTEEN FAF JUNKERS COMING SOON OUT!

Twelve of Finnish "Junnu's" are now almost ready and under test with my Finnish Virtual Pilots friends on Multiplayer servers. I am making sixteen Finnish Ju 88's with German camouflage and Finnish markings as they mostly were on 1943 and 1944. Couple of our repaired Junker's had also a Finnish camouflage on 1944. Maybe I skin them later but these are very busy now! ;)

Just some constructive criticisim. The white in your emblem should match the white of your RLM21 over coat. Even Wasserhell RLM00 (Temporary White Wash) wouldn't be that bright. If your prop hubs are meant to be green it should match the color of the letter code 'A' (RLM25). If not they need to be RLM71 or RLM28. Other than that great work. I look forward to the full skin pack.
