seafireliv Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) Now I`m no aircraft expert. In fact i`ve only ever been in an aircraft once in my life. Of course I`d do more if I could afford it. But I like flying aircraft sims, especially WW2 fighter ones. I think the only reason I don`t do `em more is they can tend to get expensive in the pc gaming world. Anyway, I like immersion in my sims, as well as realism, and can`t see why the two can`t be interwined except for financial constraints maybe. Little things like just wavy grass does a lot... Though i thought there`d be more people on the airfields. I`ve seen no one so far, so airfields look very empty. Right to the point (lol): I would love to be able to make walk around preflight checks of my aircraft before take off. FSX actually allows this in some add-ons. Also, when I land after a mission, I really want to take a look at my aircraft afterwards. What was it that I heard go `crack` while flying? How many bullet holes is there in the fuselage? Etc... etc. It seems small, even picky, but this kind of thing would add hugely to IL2 immersion and, frankly was what I`d hope to see in the original IL2`s successor... These are not the only things, but that`s for another thread maybe. I like to fly more before making my full reports on this sim. Don`t get me wrong, though, I love the greater realism of the cockpits, etc, i love how TIR works real well with it. I love the organic pilots in the aircraft now...etc, etc. Again, I will make a thread on this great stuff... eventually. Edited April 3, 2016 by seafireliv 2
Mesha44 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Yeah, I think that is a great idea. The down side is that when I go down on the wrong side of the line I would be tempted to try to walk back, and I expect the game wouldn't really do that justice. neat idea though.

To be honest, I can`t see why they can`t allow us to walk back if we want. I mean they could just put the walking mechanic in there, so you jump out your plane and can `walk` or run away. Sure most people would just quit, but i could see some interesting immersion plays coming from it! But if not at least giving us a small local area around our plane to walk so we could look at it would be welcome ! Edited April 5, 2016 by seafireliv
Feathered_IV Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 If I were shot down say, 20 kilometres over the other side of the lines and my home base was about 15 kilometres behind my own. I wonder how far I'd get before I decided not to bother.
