Any ideas? I can't get the game to start

Okay so I updated the game yesterday and it was running - I know  cos I tested it (had a quick look at the Ju 88 and tested the La-5 to see if they'd corrected the roll-rate  - they haven't).  There were a couple of issues to start with (failures to load some planes) but generally speaking it was working.

 

Switched off 'puter last night, re-booted this morning and now when I attempt to fire-up the game I'm told there's some sort of "10005 error" and I need to 'update the game'. 

 

Anyone know how to fix this?

No, didn't know there was one.  But if there is, why wouldn't it just automatically update the new 'hot fix' when I tried to start up the game?

Sounds like a viruschecker has blocked ypu

Did you try to start BoS using the "Offline" button? I had your problem so I tried the "Online" button and then I was able to restart using the "Offline" button.

Well thanks people but unfortunately no dice.

 

I switched off my anti-virus and that didn't fix it so I tried the 'offline mode button' but still received the "10005 error message.

 

It's like being caught in an alien tractor-beam of some kind that's sucking me into an irresistible vortex of death.  I can see no way out.........

Do you use steam version? Try to verify cache it should help.

That happened to me earlier this year.  I found I had to re-download the game to get it working again.

What is your game version ? Steam or not ?

 

How do you launch the game : Launcher or IL2.exe ?

I was thinking that you launch the game from the .exe. I do. Of course the launcher should update game automatically.

 

If it won`t do that, delete your update folder.

I was just about to re-install when I noticed your post Zami so thanks a lot.  I deleted the update folder as you suggested and the game updated successfully on the next attempt.
