simplyjames Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I've been noticing im pretty bad with engine management. And the more I play on Expert the more apparent it is. For example, if i take off in a stukka, the engine explodes even with low manafold pressure. I understand this is because of the RPM. How should I go about adjusting the RPM?I have an x55. Would it be a good idea to map the RPM to the left part of the throttle? Or will this cause me grief? I've looked up profiles for the x55 and don't see RPM anywhere.I'm mapping prop pitch to the rotating dials. Where should I map mixture and radiator?Any help would be great.
1./ZG1_ElHadji Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Tip is to read up on the plane you fly. Chucks plane guides is a good place to start. Make a note of what ATA and RPM to use during takeoff, climb and cruise. The flight manuals also provide info on how long you can sustain max ATA and RPM without damaging the engine/s. Since you mention the Ju 87 here are the numbers you need to memorize: 1 minute max 2600 rpm @ 1.42 ata 30 mins max 2400 rpm @ 1.25 ata No restriction 2250 rpm @ 1.15 ata Cruise 2100 rpm @ 1.10 ata Above 6000m reduce by 0.1 ata Combat 2250 rpm @ 1.2 ata Climb out 240 kph @ 2450 rpm Notice the ONE minute max at 1.42 ATA and 2600 RPM which is most likely the reason for your engine damage.
