seafireliv Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Hello, people, Tried my trusted Sidewinder with IL2 (I just bought). Everything`s ok except the throttle is backwards. Any idea how I correct this? Can`t seem to find an option to change just that.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 In the key bindings, go to Engine controls and find Throttle there. In the rectangle that says the respective axis, there should be a small square on the right-hand side. Clicking there will open the curves menu for the axis and there you can invert it. I hope it helps!

Now I just need to taxi to the runway without spinning!
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 You'll get there The general recommendation I would give for most aircraft is to push throttle up to 30-40% until the aircraft starts moving, then reduce it to 20%, using brakes liberally to help steering. If it is a Soviet aircraft, make sure the mixture and RPM are properly set as well. Other than that practice makes perfect - I got stuck in the snow three times this weekend while attempting to taxi, it happens.

Funny, cos I`m an old IL2 1946 `pilot`, but it`s almost like starting all over again in this. I can`t even get to the runway! Edited March 30, 2016 by seafireliv

seafireliv Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Actually my biggest problem is that SNOW!!!! Lucas mentioned it but it wasn`t until my 5th time of going into the snow that I realised I get stuck, then I have to throttle to near 100% to clear it and of course I fly out and hit something. I hit a car last time and it was funny to see the driver run out! I don`t understand why my aircrfat keeps twisting to the right, I tried changing my roll trim to offset the torque, but I still wend off to the right as soon as I release my tail wheel. I have to release the tail wheel to navigate the coming turn to the airfield. I`ve tried putteing my throttle gently but the aircraft either stands there or rolls away too fast. Oh well, I will figure it out. Practise, practise practise, edit, sorry about spelling, my keyboard is covered in stickers for controlling my aircraft! Edited March 30, 2016 by seafireliv
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 While some aircraft have features that make taxiing easier, generally speaking you need to be on the brakes all the time in order to keep the bird lined up properly. Whenever the rudder isn't countering torque properly, hit the brakes while maintaining rudder pressure. Then release them, and move on. Rinse and repeat until you reach the runway.
