Keystrokes are sometimes wrong

I am playing 1946 still and it has worked flawlessly up until recently.

 

My issue is that some keystrokes will register as something completely different. When I hit " = " to increase power, it registers as " @ " and nothing happens. When I hit " ' " nothing registers. When I hit " ` " it registers as a key that doesn't even exist on US keyboards. WTF!

 

There's a few issues I think this could stem from. First is my use of an Xbox One controller that works on PC. The game worked great until I started using this. As well, I was downloading a host of major Microsoft updates at the same time. I have a hunch that it's due to the controller BUT I've used the controller before and it worked fine. I've experienced this issue on Windows 10 & 7.

 

Does anyone else have similar issues?

Do you have a bunch of other USB devices plugged in?

 

It's a shot in the dark but I had issues with serving power to all of my peripherals and I was getting phantom inputs from my throttle.
