Brano, that was very tragic

It was indeed :D

At the end it was only Myrio and me flying together. Unfortunately he had some troubles with net connection so he called it a day and left. We had nice chat together. You are great bunch, I'll do some more flying with you for sure ;)

Hey guys,

We have our Thursday training mission this evening at 19UTC with the JG52. They're always good fun and we last time involved us overwhelming the 109s with a swarm of LaGGs.

Come along if you can.

We will be on the JG52 TS. (PM for the details of it).

Posted

TS is back up now btw

What TS address are you talking about?  I'd like to join in on this at some point.

Do you guys (216th) have a dedicated Pe-2 squadron?  I'd be interested in learning to fly this aircraft as a team with others and do some bombing.  If not, can you tell me who may be flying the Pe-2 as a group?

Hi RedBravo! While we don't have a dedicated Pe-2 squadron per se, the 216th pilots constantly take the Pe-2 into battle as a group (ie bomber formation + fighter escort) for bomber and attack missions, employing Soviet combat tactics and all that.

Check out the Discord link on my signature, we post information for future flights there so you can fly with us and see if you like it :)

Sorry guys,I didnt make it yesterday. Too many beers to take care of  :drink2:

From the 55th Fighter Aviation Regiment and the 216th Mixed Aviation Division, we congratulate you with Victory Day!

55 IAP fought the war from the first day in the skies over Moldova as part of the 20th Mixed Aviation Division. Upon joining the 216th Fighter Aviation Division (later 216th Mixed Aviation Division and 9th Guards Fighter Aviation Division), already 16th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, the regiment and the division fought up until the very last day of the war, meeting the victory near Prague.

Let's honour their service in this war where the people from all over the world, from the Soviet Union to the United States, through Germany, France, Spain, Brazil, Australia and beyond, joined their forces in whatever ways they could - in armies, as partisants and resistance fighters, in factories, hospitals - to defeat the Nazism and Fascism which threatened the world.

As written by Aleksandr Pokryshkin:

The 24th of June… Gloomy morning. But the colour of red banners, the shine from medals on uniforms, shiny swords and metals from the orchestra, the bells and chimes from the Kremlin opened the skies and brightened the clouds.

Marching in Front columns across the rows of victors, feeling the elbows and shoulders of those next to them, we felt our close friends standing far away from the borders of Moscow right now.

The Victory Parade – the parade of victors. Our country received a report from its army and honoured it. In the marching Front rows marched generals and soldiers, infantrymen, artillerists, pilots, decorated with Gold Stars, the Orders of Victory, Lenin, Red Banner, Suvorov, Kutuzov, Bogdan Khmelnitsky, Nakhimov, Glory… They bore the banners covered in the glory of numerous battles, shining with the rays of the the Great Victory.

I have been chosen to bear the banner of the First Ukrainian Front. Clutching its staff in my hands, I thought instead of our Division’s banner, decorated with four Orders.

When the column passed near the Mausoleum of Vladimir Il'ych Lenin, all eyes and minds were turned towards the founder of the Communist Party. Under its leadership, we won. You could only hear the accurate blows from marching steps, the music and the rustling of flags overhead. Once we passed the Mausoleum, the banner was taken from my hand and somebody invited me to join the stand with the guests to watch the parade from above. In these minutes I was able to see, feel and appreciate myself this wonderful historical triumph.

Two hundred soldiers approached the Mausoleum and threw two hundred banners of the German armies, divisions and regiments at its foot. These were banners of shameful aggression, of crookery, of violence. I saw rumbling beyond me powerful self-propelled guns, tanks, tractors, cars – our strength, made with the power of people. I saw beneath me the representatives of Allied armies, of our friendly neighbours.

I looked at the bubbling Red Square, at the dense wall of Muscovites and thought: will the world and humanity ever forget how much did this victory over Hitlerism cost? Will the humans of this planet take the hard lessons of this terrifying – both for us and for those who started it – war?

Will people ever forget how much blood was spilled during these years, how many graves are scattered on the ground from the Volga to the Spree and in the battlefields of multiple European countries?

They won’t forget…! They must not forget!

Resulting from the exceptional results and service of the 9th Guards Fighter Aviation Division and its regiments, commander Aleksandr Pokryshkin had the honour of bearing the banner of the First Ukrainian Front during the very first Victory Parade on the 24th of June 1945.

My sincere congratulations to them, for the effort and high losses they pay for such a final price. Hopefully will be not in vane but Europe worries me day by day.

Cheers.

Good to have you back Cat, we are mostly sticking to TAW server and TS at the moment. I won't be on this evening, maybe tomorrow.

Posted

Cat, my proposal would be to coordinate joint visits to TAW via the discord channel. We had a lot of fun there recently.

Discord works for me. Looks like it's been a bit quiet on there lately though.

Cheers.

Can you send me an invite or link or whatever? Thanks.

Aha! Wish I could read Russian (not really - I struggle with all languages) but I see there's some good stuff regarding the airfields on there. Including Kerch, which had been eluding me.

Cheers.

Look on the last post - there is 3 photos of 16giap aircrafts, with A.Pokryshkin, and image of 216 SAD command post.

S!

I usually flies on Fridays from approx 1900Z (summertime), will that work out or is the sky empty?

I prefer flying ground attack and bombers, and both for Jerry side as well as Soviet side, meaning it will be a bit sad only flying Soviet side.

Loke, you can join up whenever you see any of us on TS, and no need to stop flying them Luftwaffles. The easiest way to find someone to fly with is to go on the Discord channel, click on #fly_together and announce your intentions :)
