A new way to find wingmen, gather for big flights and chat around:

The 216 has set up a discord chat&voice server open to everyone.

Register at discordapp.com, use this invite and access it from your browser or install the Android/iOS/Win app.

Organize your flights while sitting in the train, having a coffe break... spend your precious time in the evening for actual flying and don´t waste it with connecting to all the MP servers hoping to find s/o to fly with.

To clarify: this is open to everyone!


Use #fly_together for short messages like

While it has voice channels, I´d still recommend using TS for actual flying. You´re visible in TS (using the 216/to your username) for others who might want to join  and can spread a bigger flight to more than one channel while keeping in com through whisper (not yet in discord).
Still, you´re free to use the voice channels for your inflight communication. If there is demand for more voice channels, just give a holler.

Guys I'm making a test on small campaign for 32 peoples on Coconut Novomax map. And I need you help. For now we are the 216th and the 55IAP for the VVS side Command and Control and the 4./JG52 and a Fliegerkorps coming soon for Command and Control. We are testing this mission tomorrow at 19h00 GMT http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ so 14h00 EST. This test will be VVS on intercepting and CAP vs AXIS on ground attack and harassment.

 

Situation : The 64th Army is still fighting fiercely for defending Novomaksimovsky but they are desperately in need of ammo for the AA gun. The supply is coming from Kumovka in barge toward the railway for unloading.

 

Mission: AXIS will harass the sector of Novomaksimovsky and sink the barge.

VVS will CAP Novomaksimovsky and CAP the barge may use ground opportunity if air superiority achieved.

 

Execution: Phase 1 5min + 15min Briefing

Phase 2 60min +90min Mission

Phase 3 5-min + 10min Debrief

 

If you are interested in one side tell me:

 

Axis and VVS mainly JABO fighter if someone want to use bomber one AXIS it's open.

I need to know what's exactly written on the fuselage. If you cant get it in Russian and English will be excellent.

Apparently looks an aircraft of the 214th but in the page says is from 7th Gv. ShAP.

It's written За Леониду Варю, which translates For Leonid Varya. I tried to find info on it but I didn't. I assume it's dedicated to a regiment comrade, friend or family member killed or in occupied territory.

Plane n.16 of 7 Gv.ShAP shows a different position of the white band if compared to the photos of Emelyanenko's plane and white 26 of the same unit: on the tail, instead of around the rear fuselage. The fin/rudder stabilizers/elevators appear with white tips too.

The photo includes other three planes flying with 16, including two singleseaters with the oblique band and a twoseater still with partial winter camo.

The plane bears an inscription on the left side; it is not readable in these photos, but it is reproduced as 'For Leonid Vyaryu' on a drawing of the Polish monograph Loctnicze on Il-2 and 10. Now, this name isn't present in the records of 7 GvShAP; eventually, if one supposes that the name Leonid is right and the surname is badly read, it could be that of pilot Lieutenant Leonid I. Novak , killed on 26/07/1943, but the inclusion of a winter painted plane suggests that the images were taken in spring 1943, so he hadn't yet been killed at that time. I've excluded Leonid Ivanov, killed in 1944; no other Leonid result in the records. Anyway my drawing is conformal to the Polish drawing, hoping that they had better images of the plane.

 

My theory - those are more probably women names Leonida and Varya,because in genitiv there is Leonid-u,Vary-u which are used only in feminine in russian. Most probably his sisters/mother/girlfriend killed during war.

We hopped onto DED and after repeated crashes and disconnects, me and Myrio took off to escort Pod after he, Xenos and Brano were shot down by crazy amounts of flak. As Pod came in, flak opened up. Me and Myrio climbed around the target and diving shooting. I dropped my bombs and blew up the flak. Oh, and Myrio too

I flew as Xenos wingman. Over arty position we did few sweeps of camo nets and other valuable German war assets Then Xenos warned me about messer on my six. I did some weired maneuvers remotely resembling smtg like evasive state of art acrobacy mixed with abnormal stick handling. I got rid of him and he switched to Xenos. I followed him in right turn climbing a bit to get above him. Messer got a split of a second for deflective fire on Xenos and he did some hits. Right after that my nose was allready pointing at him and I fired a burst to distract him. It worked,he left Xenos and hit full throttle running home on treetop level. I had a bit of height advantage so I tried to build up some speed in shallow dive. There was a good chance to catch him....but I didn't pay attention to where I was flying....directly over enemy fortified position....BANG-BANG and the sky turned red. I turned my head and banked abruptly to check my six. No enemy,just never-ending stream of MG tracers from the ground. I called by radio that I'm wounded and heading home. Half-blind with smoking engine and losing fuel a turned towards Don river to try to reach AF at Kalach. Just as I saw its high Western banks another BANG-BANG...it was most probably that messer that I was after previously. He saw me smoking home. A target that can't be missed....so I died with smile on my face,song on my lips and picture of Western banks of Don river...they are indeed high....rastsvetali jabloni I grushy,paplili tumani and rekoi....

Not sure how it went, I called it a day after getting banned from DED. All fixed now.

 

Myrio, that was on me - I sort of forgot that if you were flying trail and strafing the same target you would therefore fly right over the bombs. I have a lot to learn from the bomber pilots here! At least Pod could bomb without being bothered by AAA.
