reddog=11blueleader* Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) Hello Pilots, how do you control steering on this aircraft, seems to me like it is air assisted? Which key map is it assigned to? I can assign it to a button on my yoke. Thanks. Edited March 25, 2016 by reddog=11blueleader*
Y-29.Silky Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Steering+air assistance I'm assuming you're talking about taxiing? If so, there's no wheel steering implemented, you have to use high rpms, brakes, and rudder.
andyw248 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) Maybe you're talking about the standard way of steering an airplane in WWII which was by applying differential brakes? If that's your question then the Pe-2 works like other Russian planes, you need to map a key or button to the brake handle (like a bicycle brake handle on the stick or yoke), and air pressure will be distributed to the brakes according to rudder pedal deflection. Beyond that, since the Pe-2 is a twin engine airplane, you can of course apply differential throttle to the engine to make good for crosswind while taxiing (common practice in twins) assuming you have a throttle quadrant that allows you to split engines. Thanks Andy, this is what I was looking for.
