Turban Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Hi Anyone knows of some pilot's handbook or something for the Mig 3 ? Past the first contact when it felt nice that the engine isn't dead over 5k, I'm starting to think of it as a pretty, yet very angry, cow.I'm thinking maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'd love to check out whatever documentation there is aboutt it Searched the forum and didn't see anything special..Cheers.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 What exactly do you want to know? So far I fly it with 80% mixture and then can run the rpm and throttle on max without it going in to boosted mode. I keep both rads full open for the climb. I have no idea if this is correct but it works for me. LukeFF made this http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/20142-mig-3-cockpit-guide-and-operating-notes/
Turban Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 I'm more thinking of something about flying/maneuvering technique, trim use in combat, if possible something the devs based themselves on to build the plane..
Brano Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 There are at least 2 books available with name Kраткое описание самолета МИГ-3 Dec 1940 and April 1941 edition for Military Academy in Monino (Издание Академии Монино) Thats a basic reading. What devs are using is НИИ ВВС (научно-испытательный институт Военно-воздушных сил) test reports stored in ЦAMO (Центральный архив Министерства обороны Российской Федерации). 2

Your last book you mentionned on the Yak thread was very interesting I didn't get to thank you for that, and those references on the Mig 3 are also what I was looking for With some translating it will be a pretty cool read It's always great to read "official" sources rather than "fan website" (although those have some good info sometimes) And it's good to have the same base reading as the devs If I can fin them on the internet that is Thanks Edited March 22, 2016 by Turban
Brano Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Those 2 books should be easy to fetch. But good luck with archive materials. Untill devs will share it with you or you manage to find someone who has been there and was allowed to copy those documents. Archive of Defense Ministry is not a public library
Turban Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Yeah when I googled ЦAMO I realized it was some kind of real official Office and it might not be open for consultation. But the first manual I found in pdf, made of pictures so that's a start I can make out numbers. I'll see if I can find something I can copy/paste to translate like I did for the Yak1 book you provided in the other thread I hope the devs shared something on planes someday Maybe a "making of" kind of thing. Cheers Edited March 22, 2016 by Turban
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Not long ago they shared their sources on the Yak-1, LaGG-3, La-5, Bf-109F-4 and Bf-109G-2 so it is possible that you will have that data out there
