Greetings,

I am trying to build some missions in the full mission builder, but there are only a few static aircraft (La-5, I-16, Il-2M41 and many others are missing). Is it possible to somehow create empty aircraft from the current models? Because if I create them as linked entities with no triggers they always have AI in the cockpit. Thank you for answers.

I dont think so.

I think the devs have to add these objects to the mission builder.

I tried to do something similar with tanks, but all I managed to do was crash the mission editor.

Thank you very much for your answers, I have spent a lot of time with it, but no success, so let's just hope that the devs will add a few more statics with the release of BOM.

Devs, this is highly needed.

I wanted to create an Operation Barbarossa mission but I-16 and many others are missing to fill airfields with dozens of plane... :huh:

 

Static aircraft of each kind is one of the most important static item to have

 

BoS is out for long time now and we still don't have 190 and La-5. Sad.

Yes, im hoping that with the full BOM release they include these items.

Static blocks for Bf 109 E-7, Bf 110 E-2, I-16, Ju 88 and MiG 3 were added in the latest 1.201 patch!

However, all 4 premium planes for some reason don't have static blocks yet..

Sim as far as I know there is no plan to add them for now. I might be wrong since those were not the exact words used.

They also added static blocks for tanks and other ground units!

My understanding is that you can place "planes" on the map and so long as you don't click on the "Create Linked Entity", they act more or less as "blocks" and don't take up many resources. Certainly, I've been using them like this, as static scenery. I only make them "linked entities" if I want them to be targeted by AI. For Gawd's sake, please tell me if this is wrong!

 

For what it's worth, Prangster uses the "on damage" report (I think) to make sure blocks (which he has made linked entities) that he wants to be hit (such as bridges, etc) substitute their broken models when hit. (At least, I think that's what he does!)

 

The nice thing about the blocks for aeroplanes is that they include variations, aircraft with engine cowlings removed, etc.

Vehicles (including planes) and artillery don't show up unless they have an entity. At least that's how it was for me last time I checked.

Blocks show up without entities. They can have entities, if you need to include them in your logic, e.g. to trigger a victory condition when you destroy a bridge.

 

What we have now is additional plane and tank blocks. Unfortunately, you can't use them to give the impression of a big battle because their visibility range is very small, less than 1km. They are only good for scenery at airfields, at the moment.

Noticed this as well, I am hoping this is a bug with new static items.. maybe they do not have far-away LODs configured yet?
