Avyx Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 How can i make the sound louder, for all the guns i use ? Compared to the engines, the gun sounds are pretty low. Thank you
Original_Uwe Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Bingo. Regardless I'm not sure why you think they need to be? Personnel preference?
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Well tbh I rather think gun sounds are too loud, especially from within the aircraft. Many real pilot accounts agree that shooting guns was barely hearable inside or not even distinguishable due to all the engine and aircraft noise. Aircrafts are louder than people might think. Even in an UL with a 120 PS engine and muffler you actually have to scream in order to understand each other due to engine and wind noise. 1
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) I wish they would fix the sounds of your plane being hit by incoming rounds. I cant tell you how many times Ive been bounced and hit hard due to not hearing anything hitting my plane. That needs to be fixed asap. Edited March 12, 2016 by II./JG53_Badger

I didn't want to say anything but ya, bingo.Even a track mounted machine gun is difficult to hear over the vehicle. Gunner on an m113, if wearing CVC helmet can hear the .50 over the sound of the vehicle but it's not overpowering. Add to that scenario sitting right behind a V12, going 300mph, with gun muzzles 6+ feet in front of you.... Edited March 13, 2016 by II./JG53_Uwe
Yogiflight Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I don`t think, the 109 pilots did not hear their MG151/20 enginegun firing. Remember its rear end is located directly between the rudder pedals. And a 20mm gun makes quite some noise when firing, as I know from the german ICV SPz Marder. And also the two MG/FF of the 110 should have been hearable, for they were mounted onder the open bottom of the radio operators compartment, with the muzzle under the bottom of the pilots compartment directly under the pilots seat.
Jupp Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 ~S~ Yogiflight, Every time someone like you starts detailing things like that... Eh, never me mind you, so never you mind me, comes into my mind, and I go invent a new wheel, not an axis. So, have a resplendent day in your hemisphere, and check in with your local flight sturgeon. Original_Uwe Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 it must be a trick to change the sounds... ?
Aguila-Dom Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I just log in to the forum to look if anyone else had already asked about it. I have 2 issues with the sounds on this game : 1 - Realistic or not, the sounds of all the guns on your aircraft should be made louder, its just feels like meeehhh the way it is right now, remember this is a 3d game not a real plane so you want to make some stuff more exaggerated to be able to compensate and fool our brains into thinking its a real thing. 2- How do we turn off the damm voice over radio thing, it drives me crazy ......Overall the game needs a bit more options on those departments, audio. My 2 cents.
FuriousMeow Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 While the MG151/20 might extend into the floor of the cockpit, it is also sealed off - hence why there isn't gun smoke filling the cockpit every time it is fired - which is itself will further deaden the sound. Above the engine, guns won't be heard very well. Not much else was above the engine and the wind. As of right now, the gun sounds are louder than they would be. They are quite loud on my system. Allowing the ability to change sounds also means people will cheat. They will turn down engine sounds and turn up gun sounds allowing them to hear people firing on them so they can use that as an early indicator of being bounced.
No_85_Gramps Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 2- How do we turn off the damm voice over radio thing, it drives me crazy ......Overall the game needs a bit more options on those departments, audio. Navigate to the data/audio folder and rename the radio folder "-radio".

As previously for old il2 sound mod UV3,in my personal sound mod I deleted "effect sonar" and nothing is heard from the cockpit including bullets impact on enemy aircraft

It's ok, I only want the option in single player I don't play multiplayer often. So, at least have the option in single. Navigate to the data/audio folder and rename the radio folder "-radio". Thanks so much that helped!!!!. You shouldn't need to go to the data files to turn that off.. A little UI button in the audio option ? Edited April 7, 2016 by Aguila-Dom

It really changed the game for the better.
indiaciki Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) My father flew the Soko 522 at shooting training. gound attack and air to air. He told me that you can barly hear the guns as you shoot. just some vibration. And that was a training aircraft. Pratt & Whitney R-1340-AN-1 Wasp air-cooled, 441 kW (600 hp). I guess ww2 aircraft were even more noisy. Edited April 19, 2016 by indiaciki 1
seafireliv Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) If the guns in real life didn`t sound loud over a running engine while flying at 10000 feet, I have no trouble accepting it now. Once, I used to think men flew 10 feet backwards when shot by a submachine gun- or any gun for that matter. I learned this wasn`t the case cos `physics` and felt like a jerk for thinking it was. If it wasn`t for sims like IL2 `46 , I wouldn`t have known much about Russian or Axis weapons or that russinas even had better than biplanes in the war. I even have a much greater understanding of how flight actually works in the atmosphere because these sims made me want to find out more. Sims are a great short-hand way to learn something without always needing to read a huge book and it can often lead to reading that huge book you otherwise wouldn`t have. I even know now that some 109s had a crank handle to get the engine running! I certainly don`t want guns louder because I think they should be louder. Too many `I know better than reality, change it` people on the net these days. I want to experience what the real men experienced (short of dying or wounding myself for real), not ignore reality and substitute my own. Edited April 22, 2016 by seafireliv
SCG_motoadve Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Agree with all the comments about guns sounds are ok the way they are. When your airplane gets hit that should be very loud though, maybe more than it is now. Im a real pilot and can tell you when flying thru heavy rain you can hardly hear the engine anymore, when flying off airport on gravel bars , the rocks hitting the elevator are loud even with the engine at high power taking off. I imagine a bullet or a cannon round hit should have been very very loud.
Dakpilot Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 As regards hit sounds, I have done a post flight and found a few holes I did not know I had recieved (rifle calibre) luckily have not experienced receiving a 'full stream' of automatic HMG/MMG fire I imagine a cannon shell at close proximity would be aurally different though To get hit sounds correct , different volume at distances from pilot depending on velocity and impact material and caliber would be a lot of additional work Love to see/hear it ingame though Cheers Dakpilot
Avyx Posted October 10, 2017 Author Posted October 10, 2017 I love this sound mod, i wish i could use it for BoX 1
