Ala13_Kokakolo Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) I am hosting a server in a second computer at home. It is a good machine (Phenon IIx4 3.0 ghz, AMD motherboard, ATI 7950, 2 gb, 8gb ram) and I have a good conexion (download 65M upload / 18Mdownload). I hosted a mission tonight for my squad and with 4 or 5 players everything goes fine, but when the number increased up to eight, planes started to fly backwards and then the server kiked all us. It was a first test and I admit that computer is connected to the internet through WIFI. My questions are: 1.- Will my server (well, host computer) capabilities increase with the use of a PLC? 2.- Is there any parameters I can set to make my server more eficient? I have notice in the server parameters there are a couple of boxes that set up the server Upload and download limits, what are the effects of such settings? Thanks. 6./ZG26_Emil Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 You probably need to edit those server limits from the default. What are they set at now? with your connection I would experiment by using close to your limit 65/18. I think you might want to think about running a cable to your router as well.
JimTM Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Re. the download/upload limits, here is what Prangster's Mission Editor Guide says on pg. 71: Server DL limit – The maximum download bandwidth the server will use in Mb/s. Find out the speed of your internet connection and divide this number by 4. 20Mb/s would be 5000. Server UL limit – The maximum upload bandwidth the server will use in Mb/s. The default is 1000 which is the maximum amount for a 1Mb/s connection. I have mine set to 3000 on a 6Mb/s connection. A 1Mb/s connection will be able to host up to 20 players but the AI use a lot of resources and you may experience lag with more than 6-12 AI. Bombers, especially the He111, can use up to three times the resources as fighters. I'm not sure if the "divide by 4" he mentions in the DL limit would work just as well for the UL limit. If so, you could try 16,250 DL / 4,500 UL for your connection (65M DL / 18M UL). I'm assuming from the numbers above that the DServer parameters are actually in kilobits per second, not megabits per second. I think that the "divide by 4" thing came out of this post re. setting UL/DL in BoS. Good luck! Edited March 9, 2016 by JimTM 1
Ala13_Kokakolo Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Thank you for the advise!!! I will try to implement those changes and see if it works. In my mission there was only 2 bases (one luft, one rus) 20 trucks, 20 tanks and 6 boats (this is a training mission) and the needed objects to make them reappear once destroyed their respective group.
