SYN_Luftwaffles Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I read the thread about your Alpha Channel, but I didn't understand exactly how you are supposed to select the gray and make it grayer. Anyone know an easy way to make your plane's surface (wings) less shiny/reflective? Thank you!
Danziger Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Make a layer and paint it white. Then copy the white layer to your alpha channel. That is completely matt though. I usually then copy the paint chips and decals onto the white layer in different shades of grey to be more reflective. The effect is a matt painted plane with semigloss markings and shiny aluminum where paint chipped off. 1

VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I wrote up how I go about it and posted it in here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15420-custom-alpha-channel-tutorial-gimp-advanced-skinners/?p=337537 It's actually a short cut but it seems effective.
