Trooper117 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 G940 joystick gave up the ghost tonight Cogs crunching and broken... don't think its repairable. None for sale anywhere (UK based)... If I need a new joystick, whats the next best thing?
DD_Arthur Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Microsoft-SideWinder-Force-Feedback-2-656-00105-Joysticks-/151993912708?hash=item23638b0d84:i:151993912708 I've got two. One for use, one for spare. once a year or so I dig out the spare and plug it in. I can't detect any differences. I use mine with a G940 throttle unit.
Trooper117 Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 How on earth does your throttle work without the G940 joystick?
Jeast Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 You can buy mine if you want. I switched to a force sensing stick a while ago.
DD_Arthur Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 How on earth does your throttle work without the G940 joystick? I don't think it does. The joystick lives in disgrace under my computer desk giving life to the lovely throttle and pedals
Trooper117 Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Hmm, If I buy a new stick, that means if I want to continue to use the G940 throttle and rudder pedals I have to keep the broken bloody joystick plugged in, taking up space, and then find yet another usb slot for the new stick... Or, by a complete new system (costly) and have each component plugged into separate USB slots instead of just the one... why is nothing effing easy for a flight simmer FGS!
Sokol1 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) and then find yet another usb slot for the new stick... G-940 use only one USB port, the pedal and throttle are plugged on back of stick - despite be seem as individual devices in Windows. Warthog, X-55 or CH combo take 2 USB ports. The only alternative that will use only one port is X-52/X-52 PRO. Edited February 28, 2016 by Sokol1
Dakpilot Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 USB hub is not expensive... Cheers Dakpilot 1

Check the ebay link again. That stick is now at £21 - free postage too. Theres nothing actually wrong with my G940 stick but twenty-one squid gets you something better and allows you to retain that lovely, chunky, versatile throttle unit and the pedals one is accustomed to. Or splash out lots of folding money on something new which will need peddles and won't be force feedback
Trooper117 Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) USB hub is not expensive... Cheers Dakpilot Thanks for that nugget of information... Did a bit of research, will get one... why didn't I think of that? Edited February 28, 2016 by Trooper117
Sokol1 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Get a (external) powered USB HUD, specially if buy X-52. 1
