Old-Banger Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I have to say, this gifting is a terrific idea. I downloaded ICE many months ago, but did not really get into it. But seeing how this community here along with the developers operate, I am going to make the effort. Good work all!

LG1.Farber Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Whats the deal with the Albatrosses? Just higher number the faster they go?
Krupi Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Faster stronger at the loss of some manoeuvrability. http://riseofflight.com/en/store/planes/Albatros_DII http://riseofflight.com/en/store/planes/Albatros_DIII http://riseofflight.com/en/store/planes/Albatros_DVa
DD_Arthur Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Online, if I'm given the choice I'll always take the DIII over the DV or the DVII/VIII.
migmadmarine Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Whats the deal with the Albatrosses? Just higher number the faster they go? also dates of service.
FTC_Karaya Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 D.II: regular biplane configuration with upper & lower wing being of the same size D.III: sesquiplane ("one and a half wing") configuration inspired by Nieuport designs to increase horizontal and climb speed at the loss of a bit of horizontal maneuvrability. Because of the lower wing being attached only through a single spar the aircraft became more fragile in dives (a problem also common to the Nieuport designs), especially if the pilot rolled violently at the same time. D.V: more streamlined fuselage and reinforced wings which however did not sufficiently fix the problem of wings shedding in dives Of course they also differ in the use of engines depending on when they were produced. The first D.II/III models still had the original 160hp Mercedes D.III while later D.IIIs and Vs featured the D.IIIa with roughly 180hp output and very late D.V aircraft may have even been equipped with the overcompressed D.IIIa???? engine of roughly 200hp output. Problem with the Mercedes engines is that the Germans usually quoted them all as being "160PS" but at different rpms and heights which leads to false interpretations in terms of their actual power
FTC_Karaya Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) I have an Albatros D.II & D.III as well as Fokker D.VIII to give away If interested pls send a PM with the aircraft ranked by interest... will see how I can split them up Edited December 21, 2012 by JG52Karaya 1

FTC_Karaya Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 D.III has been gifted, only the Fokker D.VIII (E.V) to go

AndyJWest Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 There will be some Gothas Now that will be fun - give a noob a Gotha, and watch the resulting chaos... :D Definitely one that needs a proper manual, full of interesting details like how to get the beast off the ground, what the ailerons are for and why you might be well advised not to use them in flight (!), and why we call the front gunner 'Bumper'. And a lesson from yesterday - switching from the cockpit to man the front gun and then accidentally shooting the pilot is a highly effective way to bring a flight to a premature end... ..... And now I see =AH=_Sid is giving away Sopwith Tripes - grab 'em while you can, and fly the prettiest aeroplane of the era. Quite a performer too.

DD_Pooka Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) I'll post this at the ROF Forum also: I had the "Free" version of ROF and had purchased various a/c over some time. I just finished building a new computer, thought I had saved all the files including ROF. When I go into the game and activate the application, the splash screen for ROF comes up and then the screen asking for User Autherization. I type my Email address and password. It then gives an error message #10005 and tells to update at an earlier screen, I click OK and it takes me back to sign in (*User Authrization). I would gladly purchase ICE. Trying to save my purchased a/c and settings..... Any ideas? Edited December 21, 2012 by Pooka
=AH=_Sid_ Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) Sounds like you need to up date ROF How to update: 1) From the Game Launcher click on the "Update" button next to "Start".2) Click on the "Update" button on the next page.3) If it finds an update (left hand panel).4) Use the arrow button to move the update accross to the right hand panel.5) Finaly ckick on the "update" button to install.6) Note: If it comes up with a DirectX install make sure you run this even if you think you have the latest DirectX installed.
