Personally, I wouldn't invade another developer/publisher's forum like that, I wouldn't like it if Yuplay came here to give away free planes for their product either. But I hadn't actually thought about it so thanks for the idea :D

They are not ROF developers. They use their own money to buy gifts for everyone.

My thoughts on this.

 

Although this is the BOS forum and the codes are for ROF.

 

1) For many visiting here, the Great War era may not be their thing, and they may not be overly familiar with 777 Studios or ROF. Some might want to load the free version of ROF just to get a feel for how it runs, see what sort of frame rate they get, what sort of options it has, etc, etc. Getting the odd gift code might help with that (I obviously hope they enjoy ROF having done that and stick around for a bit, but if they uninstall ROF next week so be it).

 

2) As has been said, the Gift Codes are use once and throw away. Once activated they can't be used again or transferred, there's no harm in having them openly displayed on the forum. A PMs only benefit is if you want to control who receives them.

 

3) Gift codes and Gifting ultimately generates revenue for 777 Studios. It pays the bills, salaries, creates profit, etc, and provides funds for future investment, be it in BOS, ROF or any project of their choice.

 

4) BOS isn't a direct competitor of ROF and I don't see any harm in posting these gift codes here. Posting them elsewhere (WB, AH, 1C or UBI forums), being separate companies could well be seen as quite threatening and is not something I personally think should be done.

 

5) All the codes I currently hold where bought in the November sale or before, with my main aim being to Gift some extra funds to 777 to help support ROF. With that aim fulfilled it makes little difference to me whether I give the codes out here, on the ROF forum, or via the ROF Gift Registry (I don't respond to PMs directly asking me for codes though).

 

If the Moderators here feel it inappropriate to post these gift codes here, then of course I will desist.

The DVIIF is a very docile yet effective airplane that does well at high and low altitudes, in knife fights or E-fights, and while it can't keep up with a SPAD, it's still pretty fast.

It's great to see you doing this Sid! Yesterday on the Flying Circus I saw you diving down onto my 6, and for a moment I thought "Oh, there's that nice fellow Sid...isn't he nice?"

Actually, I'm beginning to get to like the Dolphin. Just remember the golden rules: (1) Don't spin - it is a pain to recover, and (2) Duck down on landing, and stay ducked down until you have exited the flight (you can assign a view position for this) - it has a nasty habit of turning over, and RoF models the effect of using the pilots head as a shock-absorber rather well.  :o

LOL, yes I have a ducked down "Brace" position mapped for this aircraft as well. No one said flying these early birds wasn't extremely challenging , you have Mixture and Radiator control to contend with (temperature control I find hard to get right in this aircraft), and remember the Dolphin has an interesting spin recovery technique - Check out O_Taipan's guide for details.
