addman Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Yaaaay! Got the last seaplane, thanks Sid, very spirit of the holiday of you. I'm re-installing my RoF ICE that's been collecting dust on my backup drive as I write. Thanks again! I love seaplanes.
Krupi Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 That was very nice of you Sid :D This is what I call a quality ROF fan! 1
=IRFC=Jorri Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 (edited) Here are five Nieuport 17's up for grabs. This nible little fighter isn't the fastest bird in the sky and it's quite a handful, but boy can it sting in the right hands! Flown by the French, Belgians, British, Americans, Italians, Russians and many others. Activation codes: XRHWR-Y2WWY-2S4JX-LKKQG-UKBSE VDJX3-KNL8E-VBJK6-8KV69-YWE7D 8622G-6VK42-GU8KP-VGAQF-82G5Z WQUQU-38BMA-9TUKA-GLCAN-PGG5W 5EHRJ-GJ9GV-6B8KU-NZR46-JSCGP (Perhaps move this topic to the free discussion board?) 4./JG53_Wotan Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I am mainly a central pilot in RoF but the Nieuport 17 can provide you a great time in RoF. I already own it and want to wish whoever gets the keys good luck and enjoy it. Good show Jorri!
addman Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Hmm, I seem to get an error 404 page when I try to enter one of those Nieuport 17 codes. Maybe I'm being too greedy, eh?

Yes, I disabled them for your account :D No 4 is taken now...twas that the one you tried? Edited December 17, 2012 by hq_Jorri
addman Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 No, that one said it was actually taken, the other 4 are all 404 no page error.
=IRFC=Jorri Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Very odd! Maybe refresh the page with ctrl+F5..I wouldn't know otherwise.
addman Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 (edited) Ok but I already tried to log in and out, maybe should try internet explorer instead. Update: Number 1 is taken now also but not by me Update 2: LOL! Figured out why I couldn't redeem any of the codes, I already have the plane in my ICE! doh! Edited December 17, 2012 by addman
Ribbs Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Wohoo! Missed out on the seaplane, but I did get a Nieuport 17! hq_Jorri.... I appreciate this very much, and you are a very generous person! Hope to see you in the sky's in my new ride! S! Many thanks! Got Nieuport 17. #1 :D
=IRFC=Jorri Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 You're welcome, Ribbs! I hope you have fun with it. Remember, she's not an easy plane to fly! Use plenty of rudder, and put the 'blip' switch on the top of your joystick....it's great for keeping that torque and gyro under control.
Ribbs Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Blip Switch?? Sounds like I meed to do some more studying!! Now where's that manual...I know its here somewhere.. ? .. Thanks again cant wait to get home and pull it out of the hangar and run her up! :D S!
migmadmarine Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 (edited) Also, on landings, line up into the wind, try to touch down gently, put the throttle up a bit, and pray to one or more gods of choice, otherwise you'll ground loop and break a wing. Also, the blip switch is a way of briefly cutting the ignition on a rotary engine, which helps turn tighter, reduce speed, or prevent over-revving in dives. Edited December 17, 2012 by thenorm
=IRFC=Jorri Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Find the manual here! http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=27806 Blip switch is cool, it cuts the ignition to all cylinders while you press it...the engine will pick up again if you release the blip switch, but don't wait too long or it will die down!
Ribbs Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Very nice thanks! Better study up.. don't want to wad her up on her Maiden flight :D
=IRFC=Jorri Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Don't worry..that's what the real pilots did :D 1
hegykc Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 (edited) Thank you hq_Jorri, I have taken the 2nd Nieuport. Now I have one heavier seaplane and a nimble fighter to see what ROF engine can do. I am already very pleasantly surprised. Tried to land but tipped it to the side a bit and bent a wing... very impresive physical damage model, haven't seen that before. Time to explore some more. Thanks again and as I said, I will "pay it forward" as soon as I get a chance. Edited December 17, 2012 by hegykc

VO101Tom Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I was read somewhere, that the D VIII was the best central fighter in the ww1, the narrow step-climb can't follow the opponents. This is true? It's amazing in this community, with all due respect yours. Jason is a lucky man with such a support.
Ribbs Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Wow..... one thing I have just noticed.. is that even though I was gifted the plane by hq_Jorri.. (and I haven't even had a chance to fly her yet..) I some how feel attached and some how sentimental about her. My first plane aside from the free ones. Can only imagine its even stronger purchasing it yourself :D Is it just me or does anyone else get this feeling? It gives you the feeling that it is "your own " plane. Maybe you want to take care of her just a little bit more. Warm her up a little longer.. make sure she comes back in one piece. I hope it carries over to BOS.. And like hegykc said above.. i will be paying it forward as soon as its possible! S! Well done Sir! 1
Ribbs Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Thanks Gunsmith86! I now have 2 girls in my stable! Enough for me for now! Will let other players have a shot! S! Totaly awesome guys you Rock! Got # 6 :D

The Fokker D.VIII is one of the best but if you get above 3000m the engine lose a lot of power because of the thin air.

Nah, it's the Fokker D.7 which was regarded by some sources as "teh best" scout in WW1. Best scout in ROF however is Sopwith Camel for most situations you can count. D.8 is shinnizle little fighter but I'm afraid it's hopelessly outclassed at the time it arrived on scene. Looks killer, tho and can do crazy aerobatics too. B) Edited December 17, 2012 by dkoor

=AH=_Sid_ Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Ok, the last of the Brandenburg's for now (I wanted to try and post these later in the day to give non-European time zone players a chance to grab one) It has to be noted the Brandenburg isn't one on ROF's most capable aircraft, but it is unique in being a floatplane. This gives you a chance to explore how the physics model currently handles the interaction between aircraft and water. 1) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 2) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 3) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 4) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 5) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 6) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 7) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 8) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 9) Brandenburg_W12 Gone 10) Brandenburg_W12 Gone Lets see who gets them, Best of luck! Bearcat Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 You might want to post those codes in a PM.
ATAG_Slipstream Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 They have always been posted openly at the RoF forum, shouldn't be a problem, once someone has used the code it is gone.
=IRFC=Jorri Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Yeah, theyre free for the taking, first come first serve no way to abuse them.
