SOLIDKREATE Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 http://www.ww2aero.com/goodyear-fg-1d-corsair-skyboss-offered-for-sale/ $2,500,000.00 USD
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I'll wait for the DEV's next sale and get it at half price. It better come with some new maps, though, or I'll throw a fit!
Dakpilot Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I believe there are about 30 Corsairs still flying in the United States, don't know if that is a lot or a little really... During my pilot training I met a nice middle aged American who was on holiday, in a bar, we got chatting and I listened to many fascinating stories of when he used to own (he had recently sold it) an F4U Corsair, he was far from wealthy, and it was in an age before Warbirds were the sole realm of millionaires, he had bought it with a friend and they operated it on a shoestring. Chance meetings like that (and many others) steered my passion for older aircraft rather than many of my friends at the time who only dreamed of Lear Jets and 747's I will never own a Corsair, but at least I got the opportunity to get up close with P&W R2800's many times which were used by a lot of other commercial aircraft, (DC-6,C-46, C-82, Convair 240-440) and considered by many the finest (piston radial) Aero engine ever built sorry for the ramble but the pic sprung some memories Cheers Dakpilot
unreasonable Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Oh, any chance of taking my old motor in part exchange? Very shiny in the picture, wonder if that is how the original finish would have looked. Now that is what I call a mid life crisis!
SOLIDKREATE Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 I wish I could hit the Powerball. I'd buy this plane and the P-38 here: http://www.platinumfighters.com/#!lockheed-p-38h-1/masterpage_27
