Is there a way to move the on screen compass to the center bottom of the screen?

No, is fixed.

BTW - In EA the fist appearance of this "HUD compass" are in the middle, but the Greeks prevails over Trojans and the position was changed. :)

What?

Yeah, a 60 inch 4K tv.  Works great.  I push it with two 980 cards, but I'm sure it could be pushed by just one card.

So just get a cheap 19 inch 720p monitor and your problem with the on screen compass is gone   ;) . Should be no problem for your two 980 cards.

But I'm with you: I also would like to see an option to move the compass...using a tripple screen setup.

In case you care, we use an overlay compass on the map that you can move everywhere and drag it at the edge of the monitor when not in use , looks like this :

The file is a PNG that I made with an area to the left used as handle to slide it to the edge of the monitor, of cource you can use whatever image you want for this.

The program for this is here (free unless you want all its features, but in free form is enough):

There are of course some annoying staff, you have to run the program after IL2 is loaded cause it doesn't like overlays, use it only when on MAP so it won't interfere with flying and set it aside before returning to plane. It is like minimizing IL2 when you drag it around and then you need a click on the map to return to it (that is why you see my program bar in the picture above). In case the picture goes behind the map (you wont be able to see the handle on the right) just ALT-TAB to the name of the image file, not the program, and you are good to go. A bug that the program has, if you drag the image to the top of the screen and let there (rising your finger from the mouse) it will shrink to a smaller size, to avoid this drag it but don't let it above top edge of screen.

Here is my file in case you want to try:

Google for "imageoverlayutility" result this: https://imageoverlayutility.bitbucket.io/

For the PNG compass image, click in thumbnail for open, then save as (or download image).

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.  :)

Something to know, since the program isn't signed by MS when it's updated until it gets appropriate reputation it appears as virus threat, it's not though and you have to exclude it from your antivirus.

Oh propably I copied wrong link. The link to author is:
