Jade_Monkey Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) It's tricky and it takes some practice but it's not that bad. The grass is a bit misleading though. Hopefully they can fully remove the grass from the paths. Edited February 10, 2016 by Jade_Monkey
Sokol1 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) Probable not period "historic" but easy to implement some ME objects: screenshot windows http://www.pilotfriend.com/training/flight_training/communication/markings.htm Edited February 10, 2016 by Sokol1 2
Jupp Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) ~S~ Sokol, Actually, we already have that in the MCU Translator : Animation Operator. You could set these around spawnpoints, making the height appropriate to ground traffics. I just went and set this up to check it out in Multiplayer, and yep sure enough it works great. There are other .chr files in the helpers subfolder to use as well. I'll be trying them out moving on. You could get creative and make them look like they are painted on a side of a building or such... To lessen the impact on immersion. I believe that expanding the use of .chr's is on the back back back burner of the Devs. That is my speculation alone. Excelsior, !S -Jupp- Edited February 11, 2016 by Jupp
Sokol1 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 LOL. Perhaps now the "taxi whining" ends. Will be need just 2 or 3 for taxiway.

The plane can land by itself while you are drinking your coffee. What I need is my crew chief sitting on my wing pointing the way to the CLOSEST runway entrance.Oh ya!
No601_Swallow Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 In all seriousness, it should be possible to use MCUs to display such an arrow for just a couple of seconds, say, whenever the mission builder wants, for example, immediately after a parked aircraft has stared engines or started to roll or crossed a certain threshold.I think. But a spawning and moving truck or something similar to block inappropriate taxiways might be less immersion-destroying. [i think I now have my next project for when I finally get back to my game next week! ] 3
Jade_Monkey Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) Maybe we need a convention, for example placing trucks with the nose pointing towards the fastest path to the runway. Edited February 11, 2016 by Jade_Monkey
Asgar Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 in the FNBF missions there is simply a truck parked on the taxi way where you shouldn't go...although i actually saw some drive around it last mission (because that makes sense)
Jupp Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) ~S~ Swallow, That all is possible as you should know. The Animation Operator has a M/S Timer on the top of the Advanced Properties Tab. And then there is Activate, Deactivate, Delete, etc options to work around this stuff too. The Devs "need" to give us the repainted Vehicles though. Even if you could access them with Ungtp. I doubt it would be worth all of that exposition, rather to just request the Developers give us, "Follow Mes". Atm we can only paint planes, not even the player usable tanks have Templates that I know of. Wouldn't doubt future though, truly why I brought this up. Glad I lit a fire, it's been awful quiet around here lately. Peace, !S -Jupp- Edited February 11, 2016 by Jupp
Jupp Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) ~S~ WTornado, This is all going in that direction. Veteran66 took advantage of this stuff early on. It was then changed in subsequent updates. My hope is that the library of animations will be expanded in the road map of the future. One of the first things I asked Jason about, concerning BOS, was will there be many "Dynamic Scenery Objects", as these were once referred to long ago. The answer is now Yes=ish. Sokol1 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 ~S~ Sokol, Actually, we already have that in the MCU Translator : Animation Operator. Sorry, but this things looks ... ridiculous. Maybe fit in training mission for new players, or some COOP racing or "handball" mission... but no way in MP server like WoP or DED Random. What I suggest is simple 3D object - similar to this CloD FMB Flag Stop - to be placed in taxiway corners. photo hosting

Im working on an unrelated project where they could come handy.
Sokol1 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) Select the MCU Translator: Animation Operator and in advanced properties click in "Browse", point the folder ...:\IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\Helpers and select one of .chr files, click in "set". The ones with "blend" in name is ... Don't imagine a use for then. Edited February 12, 2016 by Sokol1
wtornado Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Would be hard to miss where you wanted to go with gigantic green arrow pointing the way. Here is the other version of the green arrow pointing your way. 2

If somebody liked putting sign boards .. better like this one. I thinks would be more realistic, adding the airfield Chart-map, to the mission briefing. Something like this of DCSW manual. Jade_Monkey Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 If anyone has an Android device I highly recommend installing this app for all the airfield layouts: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19348-beta-battle-stalingrad-map-android-app-updated/ Among other features, you can tap or search any airfield and get a map of the layout. It's really helpful, and MAGNUM_PT is doing a great job. 1
