It's maybe just me....

Ok, so I gave it a really good effort.  It's been about two weeks now since I first had the concerns.  I really have played.  I devoted at least 60 minutes a night, for the past 13 days between online and offline.  It isn't that it was a chore, because like I said, I really do have a passion for this niche category.  Trust me, it hasn't been a labor!!  haha

Still think it's a great game, and don't regret spending the money, but I think I'll revisit it later on this summer maybe.  See what's changed.  I'll tell you though, not sure if I can stay away from the forums.  There is a ton of passion here!!  For sure.  Actually some very interesting points of view.  Interesting reading.

I'll stick with 46 and DCS for now I think.

@daff,

I never tried 46, did try CloD last year, and am an avid DCS user, but, from my point of view, which is primarily the permanent search for the "perfect" flight dynamics, I really can't stop playing il2 BoS, and, from update to update, it is really just getting better.

When I put both side to side, it's a tie...

IL-2 is, IMO, ahead of DCS in visuals, including visual ID of aircraft and other objects in the scene, weather modeling ( visuals and effects ), damage model and even some of the systems modeling when it comes to the details of damage caused to an aircraft in combat or due to pushing it above the structural or engine limits, even the effects of damaged engines.

It feels better than DCS in some aspects of the flight dynamics, in aircraft that I can compare like the 109...

It is inferior in other aspects for sure, but they're both sooooooo good, and so many light years ahead of their civil counterparts I had been playing for decades that today, reading the news about the upcoming 747 by PMDG being about to be released for FSX means nothing to me....

IL-2 still gives me, alsso probably due to the excellent view perspectives and effects I get in the cockpit, what I consider to be the closest to real "sensation of being there" of any sim I have used ( including Airbus full flightsims :-) )...
