Cheers jafa. Hi, JAFA! I remember your older movies, and I think that movie will be stunning! Are you using 3D Max for smooke and german ? How much you are already working? From november, right? And good luck! Edited February 9, 2016 by =HH=Pauk 1
Mungee Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Welcome back, Jafa! Really looking forward to your superb productions!

OMG , that was a walk down memory lane , haven't watched those for years, these days I mostly use AE , Nuke ,Davinci resolve and Premiere pro , im more of a compositor than a creator , cant say when Spotter will be finished hopefully in the next few months . Cheers Jafa
Cavemanhead Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Outstanding! I've always appreciated your work and it's great to see you're using the BOS engine to showcase your talent... Thanks in advance!
jafa Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 Spotter is still in the works, here is a sneak peak... https://vimeo.com/165851442 6
Jade_Monkey Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 WOW! Really impressed with the videos. The engine sound was really cool, I wish we had something like that in game. I just looked at some of the other Vimeo clips and that AAA sound was also really nice. Looking forward to seeing more with BOS/BOM
jafa Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Thanks JM Personally I think alot of the audio in BOS (ambient and Mechanical) is very well done but as in the Original Il2 the aircraft sound is very synthesized especially externally in flybys and the like , also some of the effects like flames , explosions , smoke ect are very sub par for example they have gone to the extent of making beautiful waving grass and then you are presented with a very low poly stuttering explosion which has no variation and does not sit well with the other details in the sim BUT...relatively its still early days maybe in a few years we will have something a bit closer to this animated trailer
6./ZG26_Emil Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Are you the guy who made North & South from IL2?
EAF_51_FOX Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Hi, I'm not a programmer but in the ancient Il2 -1946 I re-worked some smoke/fire effects when the code engine was public revealed, I think BOS/BOM fire/explosion and smoke effect still have same structure, so I think it will be easly tweaked and improved if only the developers will give to us the structure code: it's just a matter of .txt and some .tga images. regards.

As for the skins and damages, devs had to make some choices because of 32bits. I believe we will have great enhancement in the fews month that are ahead of us after BoM release. Great video! Jade_Monkey Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I asked about higher resolution skins when 64 bit came out and they said that its possible. The smoke in your videos also looks fantastic although i dont expect anything like that to be in game soon. It would be really awesome though.
jafa Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Are you the guy who made North & South from IL2? Yes.I was much younger then

No me neither , to be honest looking at most games or sims the smokes and fire elements and for that matter the shadows are more often than not poor quality so BOS isn't alone in that area , I think if I was presented with a sim that had realistic sound , effects and all the rest I would die of a hart attack before i got the chance to play it. I think its good to keep asking for these things even if it is annoying they are important to the immersion .

=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 nice work bro , time to load in its got me fired up
sport02 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) for sure , smoke is the least developped effect in games since long time , difficult , resource need, apparently . imagine smoke which is expand and dissipated on dozens kms and above all not disappeared Edited May 15, 2016 by sport02
Roast Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Sport02 is completely right. BOS/BOM has good smoke but things could always be improved. The immediate and long-lasting effects of severe fighting and smoking towns or cities adds so much more realism to a simulator, indeed especially when it effects a larger area due to blowing winds and such. I hope that, with increasingly stronger pc's and video cards, such effects can be gradually introduced into our simulator. Oleg Maddox once mentioned that he would love to add moving clouds to his IL-2 sim but that pc's weren't strong enough to cope with that. We are now more than 10 years later and graphics have been very much inproved, so that the development team may be ready to add these effects to their simulator?

There are moving clouds in Rise of Flight so I would think that it ought not to be too much trouble for BoS. Cheers.
sport02 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) moving clouds also in Bos/Bom , in Rof you have the permanent smoke above the front . no game no fps propose sophisticaded smoke . Edited May 16, 2016 by sport02
Jade_Monkey Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) We already have moving clouds as sport02 mentioned. We also have large smoke columns, although they do take a hit in fps iirc. Edited May 16, 2016 by Jade_Monkey
Chief_Mouser Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 (edited) Well, stone me, I've never noticed the clouds moving in BoS/BoM. In RoF they are very obvious; I remember looking at my gauges pre-flight when the sun disappeared and it went dark very suddenly. I just set a up a quick mission in BoM and yes, they do move, but the effect doesn't seem as noticeable. Cheers. Edited May 16, 2016 by 216th_Cat

Is it doable? I am sure people will be willing to pay for such immersion Edited June 23, 2016 by ATAG_dB
