Zargos Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) You're right Boomerang : the alpha layer is as important as the skin itself. They "work" together and both of them deserve the same carefulness from the skinner. Edited March 26, 2016 by UF_Zargos
Original_Uwe Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Yep, lots more trial and error in the alpha layer.
XQ_Lothar29 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Hi and welcome Radbes S! ^^ Nice job on the Werk No. 6741 ^^ Hello everyone, Speaking of updates, I ran another pass on most of the skins I've attempted so far. Looking at the Alpha Channel more lately, that and welcomed constructive advice where you can see some results. There are many layers within the original .*psd files Jason has given us. Some folks adjust excising one's and some of us add even more . The same can be done from the original Alpha Channel, meaning you can create your own custom one by adding additional layers. This task appears to add a new level of detail regarding the surface lustre separation of painted objects. There is a thread that 5tuka posted within these forums that explains this very well. He has even added some footage where you can see the differences of the surface lustres. In the screen shots below, I have tried to make the Yellow pop, or stand out more on the 109 by using a custom layer for the alpha channel. The Metal Chipping was not only reduced, but it too had a custom layer added to the Alpha Channel. (I did this also with the IL-2's red stars and paint chipping). Is it worth the effort on a Matt paint job? 2016_3_25__7_2_6.jpg2016_3_25__8_52_20.jpg2016_3_25__9_13_48.jpg Download Link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c7aycv4ku5vmp/Plane_Skins Boomerang your skins is are corrupted.. i download your skins but when decompress them, 7Zip program launch error.. 707shap_Srbin Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Hi everyone, Yey, I have net again! Here is the Bf 109 F-2; W.Nr. 8165, 'Black chevron 4' flown by Uffz, Fritz Geissler of Stab I./JG52. It's as accurate as I could get. The tones can be rather time consuming when matching against the seem lines, (it's fairly close). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Colours I decided looked the closest where as follows: Color FS 30215 RLM 79a SandgelbColor FS 33538 RLM 04 Gelb Color FS 34052 RLM 80 Olivegrün Color FS 34159 RLM 64 Hellblua Regards, Boomerang Blue land, white sea, and red spitfire in black hand.
Boomerang Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Blue land, white sea, and red spitfire in black hand. 1399986683_52b.jpg Thank you.
Boomerang Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Blue land, white sea, and red spitfire in black hand. 1399986683_52b.jpg S! Great image, thank you again. Here you go, I restored the Emblem of I./JG52 from scratch, (as I did not have the emblem in a layered *.psd or anything). Well I do now I looked at the colour from the original image, saturated it a little more, then chose a colour pixel that was closest in tone. The Red may have been a little brighter, maybe towards a Tomato Colour? I have updated the Bf109F2WinkelVier.7z file with the new I./JG52 Emblem, (just before I wrote this post). Alpha Channel also emended and tweaked slightly for the Luftwaffe Insignia. The download link is the same as above ^, and below v. Link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c7aycv4ku5vmp/Plane_Skins Screenshots: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a separate note, made a new "Rust Brush" recently, Check it out in game: Screenshot of the "Rust Effect". Regards, Boomerang 1
Zargos Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) Aluminium dont rust.... Sorry..... That's true ... but the rust effect is really great ! I think I'm going to try to do something similar ... for wrecked planes. By the way Bommerang, is your rust effect produced by a single brush or do you "compose" it from different textures and brushes ? Edited March 29, 2016 by UF_Zargos
Boomerang Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 By the way Bommerang, is your rust effect produced by a single brush or do you "compose" it from different textures and brushes ? Single Brush mate. It was made via a recent photo I had taken with my phone of a white bin. A little contrast was added first, then the image was split up into three layers, (both tones and the colour layer). This was only necessary for the brushes transparency. Once all transparent images where adjusted, a new single layer was made, (via the chosen excising visible layers), it was then exported as a *.gih (animated) Brush. This is so the colours can be changed when using the newly created brush. Cool experiment . Hope this makes sense or helps in any way. Here is the photo I had taken:
Zargos Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Thank you Boomerang for these informations. I'll try something similar with Photoshop.
Boomerang Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Btw, feel free to use the image if you wish. Regards, the alpha layer is as important as the skin itself. They "work" together and both of them deserve the same carefulness from the skinner. Absolutely S!
Boomerang Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I will start a: "Plane Parts Shed" for our community skinners to share, use and add to if they wish. I understand most of us like to make our own, but it can save time, and the time we need to drive our aircraft 1
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) While the rust layer is cool, in real life you would never see a Bf-109 or any active flying plane for that matter have any kind of rust on them. Just my 2 cents but its kinda cool Now on ground equipment like damaged and abandoned Tanks I would see this a lot on the older equipment. Edited April 2, 2016 by II./JG53_Badger
707shap_Srbin Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Maybe on Russian planes. Suddenly, those russkis made aircrafts with the same materials, as americans and even germans 1
Original_Uwe Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 You fool! Russian plane is built of secret Bolshevik technology! Stalinium superior to capitalist western steel! Stalinwood makes aluminum look as balsa!
1CGS LukeFF Posted April 3, 2016 1CGS Posted April 3, 2016 You fool! Russian plane is built of secret Bolshevik technology! Stalinium superior to capitalist western steel! Stalinwood makes aluminum look as balsa! Trolling fail. So, tell us: how is wood supposed to rust?
III/JG2Gustav05 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Trolling fail. So, tell us: how is wood supposed to rust? because it's Stalinwood, any magic thing can happens on it beyond Stalion's call.
Original_Uwe Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I thought for sure that was understandable as a joke-apparently not. Get over yourself and take the joke for what it is Luke, a joke.

Jokes/Humor don't always translate well over the internet, so relax. (See what I did there? ) If you meant it as a joke, then fine, no harm done.
