CraigNT55 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Hi All, Just a couple questions: 1) Where can I find the F-2 Template? 2) How can I download the game skins so that I can augment them and use them as "Custom" skins? Thanks! - CraigNT55
III/JG2Gustav05 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I think that I would like to try Molders plane 1stly. But I am not sure I can finish it quickly because I have something very press need to take care of in real life recently.
III/JG2Gustav05 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) A quick skin of F2 also flown by Günther Lützow as kommodore of JG3 based on http://fineartamerica.com/featured/bf109f-geschwaderkommodore-jg-3-maj-gunther-lutzow-barbarossa-1941-vladimir-kamsky.html Should be at the early stage of Barbarossa 1941 http://www.mediafire.com/download/z32a9zql8k7gi2s/Bf+109F-2+StabJG3_chevron_Gunther_Lutzow_YN.dds Edited February 27, 2016 by III/JG2Gustav05
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 24, 2016 1CGS Posted February 24, 2016 How can I download the game skins so that I can augment them and use them as "Custom" skins? That's not possible.
Zargos Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 That's not possible. Actually its possible but you've got to do step by step : - extract the skins from the skin.gtp file with unGTP - open the default dds file (make the changes you want) and save same with a new name into the appropriate file in the data\graphics\skins file of the game The point is that if your game parteners haven't the same file in the same place, they won't see your skin. But, any way, if you want to customise some skins the simplest way is to make it from the public templates and become a skinner !
Boomerang Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Having another crack at this, now that we have the F-2. Much to do, (works in progress, it will take a while). 1
Weegie Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Dammit all How come all the skins I think are really cool are always WIP!!! Only kidding that looks like another real cracker there Boomerang, looking forward to seeing it being wheeled out the hanger 1

III/JG2Gustav05 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I'll do them all. Hi SPEKTRE76, That's a great news. but could you leave the Molder's one to me? I already committed it and working on it. 1
BP_Iceman Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) And the last one on list(Heinz Bretnütz) is allready done by me, it is inside skin pack from my first post in this topic. The skin is not on pictures, but inside skin pack are booth versions. Edited February 25, 2016 by BP_Iceman 1
Dutchvdm Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Ha Guys, Thnx for making these F2 skins! I'm looking forward to use them in the Moscow PWCG campaign. Grt Martijn
CraigNT55 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Thanks Zargos! I appreciate the info on using unGTP! Cheers, - CraigNT
Boomerang Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) Hi everyone, I've been working hard on the Bf 109 F-2; W.Nr. 8165, 'Black chevron 4' flown by Uffz, Fritz Geissler of Stab I./JG52. And.. I was wondering if anyone could help clarify the colours of that time. Searching high and low, I have some what come to the conclusion that possibly the RLM's are as follows: (?) Colours HEX (Description) RLM: 27 HEX: F3BC00 (Gelb)RLM: 64 HEX: DCE4E3 (Hellblau)RLM: 67 HEX: 565D3F (Dunkelolivgrün)RLM: 70 HEX: 282C25 (Schwarzgrün)RLM: 79 HEX: 6E462C (Sandgelb)RLM: 80 HEX: 282B1A (Olivgrün) Here are a couple of screenshots, (in game), of the two rather different RLM's of 67 & 80 ( I was wondering if there was something in between). The First image is RLM 67 The Second image is RLM 80 To be honest, I wish I had better reference pics to work from, not that pleased with the result really. What I am pleased with is: All rivets have been colour coded and appear flusher. Rivets adjusted around Canopy Spinning rivets and seams added to spinner, (all line up within start/stop animations) Exhaust pipes appear hotter and brighter Large Metal Hinge has been enhanced Alpha Channel Template has been made for quick fixes. (when using colour to Alpha) So that's where it is atm.. Regards Edited February 29, 2016 by Boomerang
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) The second one looks closer to the refference in my opinion. Btw I mainly use this chart as refference (although I've found some colours to be off and alway tweak them but only in very rare cases): What I tink your skin lacks a little (sry if this is interferring with your taste/creativity) is a little "washed out" look. It basicly looks like fresh painted with bright colours and some detail weathering which makes for high contrast coulours. I always love to compare my work to scale models because despite their differences both skining and model painting have quite a lot in common. A very common weathering method is the washing that gives the model a general layer of dirt and disrupts the contrast. The efect is similar to the "general dirt" layer included in the template for exampel. What I'd strive for is sth similar to this model is (sry doesnt let me link the images): http://flugzeugclassic.de/modellbau/ungewoehnliche-bf-109-f-2-132 Edited February 29, 2016 by Stab/JG26_5tuka 3
Boomerang Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I managed to find another RLM 80 from a different source, it's HEX is 2f3a2c. Here is what it looks like in game: Just need to check the pattern. Regards
Boomerang Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Thank you 5tuka. I agree with what your saying, at the moment it does look like it's just been freshly painted . To clean for my taste as well, there are a few more layers to come. Thanks for the info S!

Boomerang Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 This site has different variations of the same RLM, may come in handy. Link: http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_germany.htm

Boomerang Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Hi everyone, Yey, I have net again! Here is the Bf 109 F-2; W.Nr. 8165, 'Black chevron 4' flown by Uffz, Fritz Geissler of Stab I./JG52. It's as accurate as I could get. The tones can be rather time consuming when matching against the seem lines, (it's fairly close). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Colours I decided looked the closest where as follows: Color FS 30215 RLM 79a SandgelbColor FS 33538 RLM 04 GelbColor FS 34052 RLM 80 OlivegrünColor FS 34159 RLM 64 Hellblua --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The file is called Bf109F2_Winkel_Vier_No4_Swastika_RLM80.7zThe download link can be found here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c7aycv4ku5vmp/Plane_Skins --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are some close screenshots off the Rivet colour coding, exhaust enhancing, paint chipping, running spinner seems, custom Alpha Channel, enhanced metal objects, and a few other things you may notice. BP_Iceman Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Hallo pilots! Today one from JG 54. It is Bf 109F-2 from 3./JG54, Schaulen - Lithuania , June 1941. Flown by Olt. Hans Schmoller Haldy. Skin is based on Adlerhorst Hangar server color profile. I know , this reproduction is possibly little "wild" , but looks good. Downloa (with full historical marking):http://www.mediafire.com/download/0dbg5qt4s3folg7/Bf109F2_3JG54_Olt_Hans_Schmoller_Haldy.dds thanks and enjoy! 1
Yankee_One Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Nice skins guys, thank you so much to share them
Boomerang Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Looking at the Alpha channel at all different times of the day, I decided on a tone that appears, more like metal when the light reflects off the surfaces at different angles. This Alpha channel has layers adjusted within that give the plane a less reflective appearance. The Yellow around the front of the plane was also sprayed. If you like what you see, feel free to update this bird via the link below. The file is called: Bf109F2WinkelVier.7z Link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c7aycv4ku5vmp/Plane_Skins

Boomerang Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 ^^ Great find ^^. It's posts like this that help allot with the referencing, thank you for posting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Straight from the Battle Field, refuelled, rearmed and ready for take off, (depending on your settings of course ) It's personal preference, but I like the aircraft to appear as if it has seen some action. It can become a little dusty during the taxying and take offs so that shine is likely to become less noticeable after a few flights Below is another version of Lieutenant Franz Josef Beerenbrock's JG 51 F-2 It's all about the sharing . Iceman did a fantastic version of this plane as well, (I fly iceman's version with admiration also), but there are different references out there, so this is just another. S! to iceman and his natural talent's thanks for sharing mate. On another note, from what I have read there were less than 1500 F-2's built between October 1940 and August 1941. As simple as this sounds, it has assisted me with the colour selection of RLM's that relate to the black and white era of that time. The RLM's I chose for the top and bottom of this plane where: RLM 71 FS 34083 for the top and RLM 65 FS 25526 for the under side. There are other variations of these RLM's also, just depends on where you go for the HEX really, (rechecked monitor is calibrated). Some don't like the advertising pop ups when it comes to downloading, and to be honest I would rather something else as a free alternative, so if anyone knows of something better, please feel free to advise. If you are interested in adding this version to your collection, the file is called: Bf109F2_FranzJosefBeerenbrock.7z Link is here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c7aycv4ku5vmp/Plane_Skins There are some custom layers of time within this file, see if you can notice what they are S! Happy Easter and Safe Journeys to everyone.Regards 3
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Nice, like the weathering on the belly and cowlin in particular If you don't want popups to appear with mediafire hover over to the download button and right click -> open in new tab. The new tab will be empty and the download window appears as usual, but without background advertisement (works for other sites with triggers advertisements, too). 1
Zargos Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 The paint chipping is (this is my own opinion) a bit too heavy for a german plane, but it is well done and looks very realistic ! Congratulations.
Boomerang Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Thanks for the info Here's one with RLM 71 FS 34079 The bottom of the fuselage on this F-2 was blended differently. The download link is the same as above. This file is called: Bf109F2_FranzJosefBeerenbrock2.7z

Radbes Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster. I've done skins before for other sims, but this is a first for BOS. Bf 109 F-2, Werk no. 6741 Flown by: Lt. Karl Materleitner, Flugzeugführer. This F-2 made an emergency landing in the town Kristianstad in southern Sweden on 9th of October 1943. The landing was performed on a field next to an army base, scaring the pants of a lone conscript standing guard at the gate. Lt. Karl Materleitner was based in Denmark, he lost radio contact and got lost in fog, followed by running out of fuel wich resulted in the emergency landing. The aircraft was kept by the Swedish Airforce, and testflights were performed. After the engine was damaged, the aircraft was scraped in December 1943. Lt. Karl Materleitner was returned to Denmark in November 1943 with another german pilot who had crashed on the same day with an F-4 in another part of Sweden. This is only the first version. I'm sure updates will follow. Download 4
Boomerang Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Hi and welcome Radbes S! ^^ Nice job on the Werk No. 6741 ^^ Hello everyone, Speaking of updates, I ran another pass on most of the skins I've attempted so far. Looking at the Alpha Channel more lately, that and welcomed constructive advice where you can see some results. There are many layers within the original .*psd files Jason has given us. Some folks adjust excising one's and some of us add even more . The same can be done from the original Alpha Channel, meaning you can create your own custom one by adding additional layers. This task appears to add a new level of detail regarding the surface lustre separation of painted objects. There is a thread that 5tuka posted within these forums that explains this very well. He has even added some footage where you can see the differences of the surface lustres. In the screen shots below, I have tried to make the Yellow pop, or stand out more on the 109 by using a custom layer for the alpha channel. The Metal Chipping was not only reduced, but it too had a custom layer added to the Alpha Channel. (I did this also with the IL-2's red stars and paint chipping). Is it worth the effort on a Matt paint job? Download Link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/c7aycv4ku5vmp/Plane_Skins 1
