Stick/Key Mapping

Does BoS support multiple key map setups for multiple craft? I like to limit as much as possible reaching for the keyboard when I play, and certain setups are better for certain planes and situations obviously. I have a button on my HOTAS for the Stuka siren which is great when flying the Stuka, but worthless when flying anything else unless I remap. Similarly the setup for flying a level bomber or manning a turret would be much different than flying a single engine fighter. I have not seen an ability to map by plane in the game, and was wondering (hoping) that maybe I missed it?

Each command in the game can be mapped three different ways but no, there is no per-plane key mapping.

Unfortunately you can not.

But....

You can bind a total of 3 different assignments to an action. So in theory if they don't clash you could cover a load of different set ups by being carefull and making sure common and uncommon comands actions don't clash.

Alternatively you can use ur hotas programing to set up different profiles for each aircraft.

I personally use a hybrid of the above two

I think I see what you mean. You're saying that, for example, since I have a mapped button for the Stuka horn where no other planes have the horn, that I could also map that button to open the canopy for other planes.

But wouldn't that clash when I fly the Stuka (having a button that both starts the horn and opens a canopy)?

Yes, it would clash, so you would need to either set up an alternate joystick profile or (if your joystick allows it) program your stick to send a particular keypress in one mode and another keypress in another.

I like to double up similar things, like LA-5 inlet cowl I have the same as water radiator, and LA-5 outlet shutters same as oil radiator, etc etc.

You could have Stuka Siren mapped to same key as Dive Brakes, since they are supposed to be used when diving, unless you want to fly around with them on for some reason.

Or set the siren to the same key as the landing gear.

In the Stuka the landing gear won't do anything, siren will go on, in all other planes siren is not there, gear goes up/dwn.

Stuka siren same as dive break.

There no much issue, bombsight and turret is basically managed by mouse.

Set mouse left for fire MG, mouse middle center MG, mouse right take/leave the MG - for look around. Setup that was convenient for tanks too.

Can be set a macro in joy button for press in sequence the 3 keys need to access/leave the gun (I just group the keys: R, T, Y and U).
