1CGS LukeFF Posted January 22, 2016 1CGS Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) With Pat's blessing, I have updated the squadron file used by PWCG. Improvements/changes in this file include the following: All known German and Soviet squadrons in the Stalingrad area from 01 August 1942 to the end of January 1943. No more Fw 190s Winter skins for all relevant squadrons Units come and go and change aircraft, based on historical resources. The big remaining gap in this file is the lack of units from the Soviet 16th Air Army. If anyone has detailed information about the units and airfields of this organization, I will be glad to add them in. Resources for this project include: Black Cross/Red Star, Volume 3 Stalingrad - The Air Battle: 1942 through January 1943 Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe 1933-1945, Volume 1 http://ww2.dk This file will be updated in the future, as new aircraft are released and new information becomes available. Comments and suggestions for improvement will be much appreciated. Once downloaded, extract the 2 files to /BosCampaign/Data/Input/Stalingrad. Enjoy! LLv24_Zami Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Extracted and overwrote the files but there`s no squadrons to pick when making a new career. Squadron menu is empty.

1CGS LukeFF Posted January 22, 2016 Author 1CGS Posted January 22, 2016 Just a quick note about Luftwaffe bomber units: in reality, KG1, KG51, and KG76 were all Ju 88 units. That will be updated once the Ju 88 is released.
Sundown Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Thank you Luke. Btw same Luke from bombs away way back?

As I said, nice work!
Dutchvdm Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Extremely nice work!! Very impressed with this. How did you manage with the skins? There are none in the attached download. Grt Martijn
Willy__ Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Awesome Luke! Is it too much too ask for an alternate version with the 190 ? Or could you point me the direction of what needs to be changed to have the 190s back ?

How did you manage with the skins? There are none in the attached download. Grt Martijn They are the stock winter skins that come with the game. BTW, I've set it up so that Il-2s and Pe-2s don't all use the same winter skin (since both planes have two winter skins without any numbers or other tactical markings on them). Awesome Luke! Is it too much too ask for an alternate version with the 190 ? Or could you point me the direction of what needs to be changed to have the 190s back ? If you open up the stock squadron file Pat has provided, you just need to copy and paste the relevant section containing the Fw 190 (it's a JG51 unit).
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 With Pat's blessing, I have updated the squadron file used by PWCG. Improvements/changes in this file include the following: -snip- Can't wait to have a piece of this when I get home! Thanks for the effort, Luke.
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 22, 2016 Author 1CGS Posted January 22, 2016 Just a couple of further design notes: Platzschutzstaffel Pitomnik disappears earlier than it should, due to the way the front lines are re-drawn in December 1942. I've put in a request to Pat to alter them, and if that happens I'll re-adjust their appearance on the map. Likewise, some units move out of Karpovka earlier than they should, again due to the way the front lines are drawn. Tatsinskaya has a lot of units based there, seeing as it is the westernmost airfield available to the Axis. As such, it's a stand-in for airfields that were farther to the west but nonetheless housed units operating in the Stalingrad sector (e.g., Voroshilovgrad, Stalino, Millerovo, etc.).
Juri_JS Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) In case you don't know it - the correct dates for Platzschutzstaffel Pitomnik are: StartDate = 12/12/1942; EndDate = 16/01/1943;There was also a Stuka detachment from Stg 2 inside the Stalingrad pocket at Pitomnik, which was formed mostly from 6./Stg 2. In the literature the unit is called "Stuka Sonderstaffel" or "Kommando Jungclausen" after its commanding officer Lt. Heinz Jungclausen. The EndDate is 16/01/1943. I am not sure when the unit was officially formed, but probably a little earlier than the Platzschutzstaffel. I think StartDate = 01/12/1942 would be ok. Edited January 22, 2016 by Juri_JS

I can adjust the starting date for the first, but I have to keep the current ending date, since Pitomnik is in enemy territory after the 22nd of December. I will also add the Stuka unit.
PatrickAWlson Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 FYI, I am taking Luke's work and extending it before and after Stalingrad (and yes, adding in the FW190 ). This will take full advantage of Luke's work while also bringing in the BoM planes and extending the playable dates. Core Stalingrad time period would be pretty much identical to Luke's. Before and after, of course, would be fictional but still fun.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Hey Luke, any chance of getting an updated version with the BOM inclusions where applicable? Thanks.
1CGS LukeFF Posted March 2, 2016 Author 1CGS Posted March 2, 2016 Hey Luke, any chance of getting an updated version with the BOM inclusions where applicable? Thanks. Everything is current as of right now. The only thing left at this point is to implement the Ju 88. However, if you notice any squads that currently aren't on the map that should be, I will gladly add them.
