4thFG_Cap_D_Gentile Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Get a grip LOL Keeping folks away you know.
PatrickAWlson Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Feel the need to say something about flaps on Yaks ... just know that I shouldn't.
216th_Jordan Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Yes, they are nice, give you lift and slow you down. 1
Uriah Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Reminds me of elevator control on 109s past 300 kph. 1
Dakpilot Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 It is interesting that actual Yak1 pilot's talk about using flaps to decrease turn radius/time when tackling bombers, (not as an unusual procedure) but rejected the use of (combat) flaps when 'fighting' with fighters due to disadvantage of increased drag, and depletion of speed in that situation, which am sure with a little common sense and need for self preservation would account for the different tactics that are available in BoS Cheers Dakpilot 1
Feathered_IV Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 It's great to have the built in excuse every time you are bested, that it simply must have been by a Yak with its magical flaps out or by some super sniper flak. 2
=362nd_FS=RoflSeal Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) Seeing yaks matching you in the vertical with their flaps deployed never gets old. Edited January 20, 2016 by RoflSeal 1

The flaps on the Yak are quite magical indeed. I say that as someone who's been flying nothing but the Yak for the last month.
Uriah Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I would love to have one of these Yaks with the magical flaps. I seem to only get ordinary Yaks that can't climb well enough to catch those pesky 109s.
SC_Manu653 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 The pic is taken before the patch, you head is totally outside of the canopy !!! 2
Finkeren Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Does this even matter anymore? Since the last patch noone fly Yaks anymore, we all fly the glorious MiG I'd rather get shot down glamorously in the MiG than win a thousands victories in the lowly Yak. 2
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Finkeren, just curious. What AC are you most looking forward to, announced or otherwise, that would get you out of that MiG-3? Anything, from any side, from '39-'45? It's something of a burning question.

Anything, from any side, from '39-'45? It's something of a burning question. Dunno. If we stay on the Eastern Front for the next installment I'd say the P-39 and/or IL-4, closely followed by La-5F/FN. If we're moving away from the steppes of Russia, I'm hoping for the MTO, in which case it'll have to be either Hurricane, Macchi C. 200 or maybe a Martin 187 Baltimore.
II./JG77_Manu* Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Finkeren, can't wait for a "Martin-187 won the war" in your sig 1
Finkeren Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Finkeren, can't wait for a "Martin-187 won the war" in your sig Nah, I think I'll keep this one it has the benefit of actually being kinda true.
