71st_AH_Mastiff Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) they still do not fire at the Russian plane; I'm watching them come right up into my tail; and one shot kill me and the AI is just staring at the enemy planes.. I put them in medium range and fire at will, and they just wont fire at the enemy planes. 3 times in WOL server. Edited January 20, 2016 by 71st_Mastiff

In real world the gunner can share lots critial information with you, to tell you ememy plane approaching your six for example and give you much better situation awareness than in a single seat plane. but such thing is totally missing in this game. 1

Well, pretty much any aircraft with a gunner. You gotta level out a bit, THEN they start blasting. But the AI gunners inform you about enemy planes in your six - probable the calls is lost in all this "radios calls" cacophony - and in MP the text message hidden by "Player X was destroyed a truck"... repeated "20" times. Record a sound file "Enemy fighter at six" or something informative in your language, save in .ogg with the name: gun_underattack.ogg And replace the file in: IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad\data\Audio\radio\rus\actor31\const\ IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad\data\Audio\radio\rus\actor32\const\ Same for \ger\ Now you know when the bandit are in you six - not that know this will save you...

They need to be improved a lot And a gunner command that tells the gunners to be reasy for enemy contacts is also needed. I dont know how many times i have died because my gunner needs to go to the gun/open the window or something every time an enemy plane comes in The command will tell them to stay at the gun ready to fire 6

I was with Gielow on DED and the AI gunners on both our 110's just didn't fire at enemy aircraft even though they were set up to do so. As McKvack states the AI gunner just stay silent and give no warnings whatsoever. I also agree that there should be "stay at gun position" order instead of them sitting like lemons with the rear hatch closed. 2

That video is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen. Either bad or AI The He-111 is actually pretty maneuverable without bombs. Its almost like a bigger stuka in turn rate

That video is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen. The P40 is deadly as hell if it gets on your tail. And it usually stays there (seems to handle low speeds fairly well). I liked in 1946 where the gunners would tell you when to break. I hope they fix the DM in the summer maps too. That P-40 should have been a ball of fire on the ground slamming that hard. Lusekofte Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The Heinkel can fly all over the map with 25 % fuel, it have great lift with those wings and was maneuverable. But it is no way in hell it should keep up with the speed and follow that P-40 in turns. It is so wrong in so many aspects. It would have structual damage by the G forces on those bomb runs with 2 big bombs under the belly
ShamrockOneFive Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 What I don't understand is why the P-40 pilot didn't just red-line the throttle and put some distance between him and the Heinkel. The P-40s low speed handling is not great and its better to have speed so what was the guy doing?
Sokol1 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The P-40 is AI. AI in QM do 3/4 head on-attacks, then go low and start circling - probable to be low in ammo. Is just matter of avoid his head on attacks, and of course dont let then "park" in your 6's.
