Il-2 Crimea Campaign Ideas

A Crimean campaign probably makes the most sense for the devs from an assets standpoint. I'd prefer POT or MOT, but if those were out of the question and they kept with the Eastern Front, then Crimea would be my choice. A true land/air/sea campaign, it would offer incredible variety on a well defined map space.

 

Axis Planes:

 

- BF-109

- FW-190

- JU-87

- JU-88

- Special - Storch

 

Russian Planes:

 

- LaGG-3

- MiG-3

- IL-2

- PE-2

- Special - Beriev BE-2

 

Honestly, one problem with this scenario would be that it reuses so many planes from BoS and BoM that the devs wouldn't be able to sell it as a full priced game. There would need to be quite a few naval and ground assets created, but the planes are mostly recycle. Maybe a $30 map expansion?

The aircraft set you described has the VVS flying what it flew during the original 8-month Crimean campaign, while the Luftwaffe has the Fw-190 which only arrived there properly in 1943.

 

The BoM (and some BoS) aircraft fit well in the early Crimean battle, even if some important players like an early series LaGG-3, Yak-1, the I-153 and Su-2 would be missing.
