Actually went online last night...

I had some time to kill before The Expanse came on, so I jumped into a low population server (Sorry, don't remember the name, but is was "expert", though I could see my plane on the map, which was a God send) to re-acquaint myself with "flying" again online.

 

Had an issue with my prop pitch lever that didn't seem to work at first, had to abort a takeoff because of it.  I worked the lever a few more times and it started working.

 

Took off in an IL2 to attack a "front line airfield", and promptly got shot down by their flak... hehe.

 

Grabbed another IL2, flew out and bombed a bridge that was on the target list, took some hits, but flew back to base and made a very nice landing, even if I do say so myself.

 

Then had a couple hops in an La 5.  Another gent spawned next to me in a P 40, what a beauty it is.

Anyway we took off to find some river traffic that needed dealt with, but again, the flak from one of the boats punched my ticket.  I don't remember the flak being this sniper like before.  Hmmmm...

 

Anyway only had a few minutes left so grabbed the La 5 and ran flat out for an ammunition workshop, to try to bomb it, but he mission ended just as I released the bombs.

 

It was fun to fly on an open server again.  I'll be back a bit more often I think.

It can only have been on the server Wings Of Liberty. It is such a nice server and good to hear you had fun.

I don't think you can carry bombs on the La 5, must have been another server.

You most certainly can carry bombs on the La-5.

It's referring to the WoL armament restrictions I believe, not the La-5 per se

I haven't been online since 104 update, Just been busy with other stuff. I guess I need to do more than update, fly a quick mission in new A/C and shut it down. Ground handling seems more, er..bouncy but not bad. Need to make some time for my PE-2 flights.

Took a couple more hops last night.

 

La 5 definitely has bombs in this server.  Warwings I think is it's name.  Has a low ping for me and at 9pm EST is always pretty empty.  

 

Gave the Pe2 some time.   I like it's speed over the IL2, but it is a big target for the AAA gunners,  Cool plane really, lands like an airliner though, it would be real easy meat while on it's final approach, as it has to be a long one.

 

I need to start flying fighters more now, though I know how that will end.

Not if deal with then as "game".

 

Can get in fast, but low  ~150 meters high, drop gear, drop all flaps and all trim nose down, the thing will drop speed and height like a rock, when touch the runway, on the second "jump" start brake hard (after all this plane will go for scrap after this flight  ), in that way land in ~1/3-1/2 runway.

That sounds like the typical BlitzPig combat landing from the old days.  

 

I strive to return my plane in as good a condition as I can these days.

Me too BP, I shot Jaws2000 down one time on auto pilot, afk, getting a beer! He came up low behind me and that belly gunner tore him up. I sat back in the chair just in time to see the end of it.  She may be a big target but extra gunners help! Oh I think it was Wargrounds you were on, Chief and Fourspeed(a few others I can recall right now, sorry CRS kicking in!) from ROF fame.

EDIT ok maybe Wings of Liberty server.. I don't see Wargrounds on there now.
