II./JG77_Manu* Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I have been using the Saitek Combat Rudder pedals for quite a while now. While they are in no means bad, i feel that they could be better. With some interesting small pedal manufacturers i found lately, i figured how they do qualitywise compared to the Saitek ones. I'd like to hear especially something about the Stratojet/VKB T-Rudder pedals, and the MFG Crosswind pedals. I liked dburnes review, however i'd like to hear some comparison especially to the Saitek Combat ones in different aspects like precision, centering force, feedback (how realistic does the resistance feel compared to the rudderforces of a real aircraft), brake system, to get a better picture of them. If someone knows other high quality combat pedals, feel free to tell me. The thing i like the least with the Saitek combat ones is the linear centering force. I know from my real life flight experience, that around the center, the rudder force are very light, almost no resistance, and on the edge they become very strong. I'd like to use pedals who also accomplish that feeling, if there are any.
9./JG27MAD-MM Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Manu, I can not speak for the others pedals, but my way was from Saitek normal Pedals now to MFG Crosswinds, they have cam profile how works as you describes. It have low forces in the middle and high force to the outside. For my Personal opinion one of the best Pedals out there. you have lot of possibility to adjust pedals to your personal reference. The dark side of this is, pedals have included wall spacers but when your table is to far from the wall you have to mount them because they start to slip, when you have only one foot on the pedal they tilt. One thing for my personal opinion, when you love less force like linear Saitek the centre point start to vanish because bearing have not enough force over the spring to give a good contact with the cam. (was my solution before I mount the pedals) But that's the only thing, I am flying with full spring strength really good feeling.
PeterZvan Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I have had simpeds, saiteks, crosswinds and VKB T pedals. I am using crosswinds - by far the best pedals for BoS. One can chose seperate cam profiles and out of that can make the center as soft as wanted and the ramp up of force can also be as wanted - spring preload is fully adjustable, spring position is adjustable and therefore is the force increase is adjustable. Simply said you can adjust it as you want. Worst case you just use a different spring (the original one is quite stiff) The precission is excelent and the movement is without any friction and play - it is smooth and very adjustable. Saiteks dont come even close here. Simpeds were ok, but also much lower quality as Crosswinds. VKB T pedals are interesting, however a completly different design. They are good, precise.... Build quality is also good. However they are not as good as the crosswinds. I much prefer the Crosswinds design. I have bought the T pedals some time after I got the crosswinds out of interest - I reckoned that I will be more effective using them as their movement resembles car pedals much more. However the results were not as expected therefore I am using croswinds exclusivly. I strongly recomend them.

kileab Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 MFG Crosswinds There is such a huge gap between the Saitek Combat Rudder pedals and the MFG Crosswinds, it's insane
1./ZG1_ElHadji Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 MFG Crosswinds all the way... Couldn't be happier with mine!
VR-DriftaholiC Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Don't forget Slaw has a new design in the works.
