Just Done an PC Upgrade...Some observations !

My Brain is killing me  !  Just spent 22 hrs  trying  to get a Samsung 950 M2 to be "Seen" by my new motherboard. Nothing in the Manual (ASUS) only two brief mentions of M2 Drives..... A million bios settings tried.  I"ll be having nightmares tonite from all the Post Beeps !... And the ASUS Website wasn't any help.  DO a UEFI install (WTF is UEFI Install ?) Don't forget you have to Put your ISO on a USB and download the "Software" to GET an ISO. ... Also Download the Samsung Driver before you load your OS and Make Windows see it .  Don't forget the usb has to be formatted in Fat32 !  OMFG !

I thought I did my home work ! Did two Backups of everything and spent the previous 2 days  "Googling".

Ive always upgraded my PC myself but this was the hardest ever.

I wanted a clean Install of Win 7 ( I don't want Win 10 yet).  I couldn't do it !... After jumping trough more Hoops I managed to Clone my OLD Samsung 850 pro to the New 950 that doesn't exist in my BIOS.

FINALLY about  two hours ago I got it all going and plugged in my USB devices....Which reminds me lads, IF you are planning an Upgrade, Make Sure the MB you choose has enough USB 2/USB 3 ports. A lot of Z 170 boards today DONT.....Joystick,Rudders, TrIr ,Throttles ,Keyboard, mouse etc. USB 3.1 is not much good to us !.. That is one of the main reasons I chose this MB over others.

So here is what I got.. I7 6700k. ASUS Maximus Hero 8. Samsung 950 pro M2 and 16 gig of  G-Skill 3000 Ram.

So I fired up BOS !(While I am typing this post I just now got the ACTIVATE WINDOWS  this moment, They don't miss much, Do they ?).

Anyhow ,Back to BOS.  Loaded without any issues. I have a routine mission in QMB. Me in FW against P40. (no sniggerin please, I use it for Practice !)(That's my story and Im stickin to it).

After the initial loading of the game (no different due to Internet checking). BOS into QMB ,everything happens quicker. Plane settings etc, to flying is Quicker.

In the Cockpit , the most noticeable difference (for me) is the absolute" Smoothness" of looking around with my TR Ir... Looking Around "Stutters" are Totally gone. I noticed it straight away. But that is it (for me).Apart from that ,not much else.

My CPU used to run at around 50-60%. It now runs at about 25%. My Ram usage was around 50%. now its at around 30%.

I haven't done extensive testing yet. So I cant make any conclusions. BUT what I can say is This, IF any of you are on a "Budget", maybe a new graphics card or a SSD  may  help you to enjoy BOS just as much.

You don't need to Spend Money to have the "Latest Hardware" to get the Best  out of BOS !..Diminishing Returns !

Are you still on the GTX970 or did you upgrade that as well? nice system, if you went back to your old one i think you would appreciate that 'smoothness' all the more

Lol ok then I guess that is a good excuse, but they will be well worth the wait!
