Nice!  I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Wish him all the best, but after reading both of those threads, colour me a bit  sceptical...

regardless of who was right or wrong there is a reason we don't have FFB joysticks as mainstream thing, and its all about patents.... even MS couldn't win that one

Also his F-18 grip looks great, but although the thread has lots of interest and 90 pages, it has been going since 2013...

Yeah I have been keeping an eye on that grip thread for quite some time now. Now apparently the track IR alternative is brought into the forefront of focus. I have no need for a TIR alternative but was interested in those grips for the Warthog...

This because are other thread with similar subject started before this one...  :)

The guy should have announce a "Professional and affordable Headtrack alternative" - as the thing use Opentrack software -  and not use "that" brand as reference.

And make advertising after have a functional and tested prototype at last... what he show are only (nice) renderings...

His name choice of iRTrack for a commercial product does not seem very imaginative.....or particularly clever  ;)

A big potential flaw I see is that he has yet to try TrackiR himself, before making claims his product is better, I am all for enthusiasm but..

A professional solution that is way too expensive and has many problems on one hand

What?

I started this after reading a blog about TrackIR, you will find it if you google "TrackIR Anticompetition", it's the first result. I was appalled, shocked and disgusted after an hour of reading there.

I'm appalled, shocked, and disgusted he actually believed what is written on that page.

Say goodbye to TrackIR boys.

One guy has ordered that box on here and I looked at some Youtube reviews it looks good, BUT I'm a little skeptical, about if its for me.

I haven't seen a definitive answer on if it zooms, when you move closer to the screen or it only tracks in X & Y dimensions.

I also wonder if eye track would get distracting, with head track you move your head (DUH) for the view but often I'm wanting to scan the monitor to look at something with the view stationary, I just wonder if it would be distracting if the picture is constantly moving with your eyes...................be interesting to get some more feedback on it.

It does look a great piece of kit and with current discounts being offered a good alternative to TrackIR

Why would I say goodbye to TrackIR?

That looks like a poor solution to meet the functionality that TrackIR already has... Can you say "eye strain?"

Unless we want tracking with 6DoF support or am I missing something in regards to the EyeX?  Don't see this replacing my TrackIR anytime soon.

I am pretty sure the only thing that will eventually replace my Track IR is VR.

I just don't see anyone doing anything better than TIR for head tracking on a monitor.

TrackIR didn't start off with 6DoF either, the Vector expansion is a paid add-on. EyeX has a lot of potential to expand from a very solid starting product, it already does what TrackIR did with less parts as well as the added value of other non-gaming features, adding 6DoF is inevitable for the infinite screen extension. You can download the SDK and have a go at making your own 6DoF app if you know how.

The one thing I wonder about is how it works if you wear glasses.

I read some place that they (glasses) have to be clean (no spot on it).

In this video the guy wears glasses.

Have fun
