Situation: From the Soviet Information! After the failure of the attack on Moscow , the German High Command, led by the Fuhrer decides to abandon its efforts to capture the capital of the Soviet Union and to concentrate the main forces in the south.
The goal was to cut off the Soviet troops from the main source of oil - the Caucasus, as well as to block an important transport artery - the Volga.
The most suitable springboard for the implementation of the plan is the city of Stalingrad - capturing it, the Germans could solve both problems.
For the implementation of the plan has been divided into six Army under General Paulus and fourth fleet.
Before the Soviet troops were challenged to thwart the plans of the German command.

WEAPONS RESTRICTION

In order to avoid "Star War style combats ", we reached a Gentlemen Agreement to restrict extremely heavy weapons.

Therefore:

Axis: 2400kg and 1800kg and 1000kg Bombs will be out of ordinance for all Jabos.
(2400kg and 1800kg Bombs will be out of ordinance for He-111).

Allied: 23 mm and 37 mm will be Out of Ordinance for Light Fighters (No restriction for IL-2)

So far, These restrictions will remain accessible to Players, which have to avoid to use "On the Honour"...

BRIEFING: Mission "ORDER 227"

Date: 28.07.1942
Time: 12:15
Weather conditions: Clouds small. Wind at the surface 2 m/s - 206°.

Situation: From the Soviet Intelligence.
On July 28, 1942, the Commissar of the People Defense, Stalin turned to the Red Army the Order number 227, which called for strengthening the resistance and for doing everything possible to stop the advance of the enemy.
The most stringent measures would be taken for those who showed cowardice and vileness in battle.
The Order outlined concrete measures to boost the morale and discipline in the Armed Forces.
"It 's time to stop the retreat", has been noted in the Order: "Not one step back!"

Conditions for victories: Destroy any Targets

Objectives for the Allied team :

1. Artillery positions in the square 522.2 (destruction of all art. Plants necessarily!)
2. Railway bridge in the square 449.3 (for the destruction is necessary to bring down the spans over the river)

Situation: News from the front. On the morning of October 14th, 6th German Army launched a decisive offensive against the Soviet bridgehead at the Volga.

Mamayev Kurgan (Height 102)

Situation: Mamayev Kurgan is a dominant height overlooking the city of Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad). When forces of the German Sixth Army launched their attack against the city centre of Stalingrad on 13 September 1942, Mamayev Kurgan (appearing in military maps as "Height 102.0") saw particularly fierce fighting between the German attackers and the defending soldiers of the Soviet 62nd Army.
Control of the hill became vitally important, as it offered control over the city.
To defend it, the Soviets had built strong defensive lines on the slopes of the hill, composed of trenches, barbed-wire and minefields.
The Germans pushed forward against the hill, taking heavy casualties.

To win the mission a team has to complete five tasks.

COMBAT TASKS(VVS)
The VVS objectives are to support the advancing troops of the 284th Rifle Division and to attack targets in the enemy rear.

2. Locate and destroy the enemy train. The train location - 313, 349, 350.
3. Destroy the artillery at the height 102 - 350.5. The battalion must be destroyed before our attack begins.
4. Destroy the tank convoy - 314, 315.
5. Destroy the Beketovka airfield - 421.5.

COMBAT TASKS(BLUE)
The units of the 6th Army are defending the height 102. Luftwaffe objectives are to support ground troops and to attack targets in the enemy rear.

Mamayev Kurgan (Height 102)

Situation: Mamayev Kurgan is a dominant height overlooking the city of Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad). When forces of the German Sixth Army launched their attack against the city centre of Stalingrad on 13 September 1942, Mamayev Kurgan (appearing in military maps as "Height 102.0") saw particularly fierce fighting between the German attackers and the defending soldiers of the Soviet 62nd Army.
Control of the hill became vitally important, as it offered control over the city.
To defend it, the Soviets had built strong defensive lines on the slopes of the hill, composed of trenches, barbed-wire and minefields.
The Germans pushed forward against the hill, taking heavy casualties.

To win the mission a team has to complete five tasks.

COMBAT TASKS(VVS)
The VVS objectives are to support the advancing troops of the 284th Rifle Division and to attack targets in the enemy rear.
1. Destroy the enemy tanks and vehicles in Cheliuskin - 243.8.
2. Locate and destroy the enemy train. The train location - 313, 349, 350.
3. Destroy the artillery at the height 102 - 350.5. The battalion must be destroyed before our attack begins.
4. Destroy the tank convoy - 314, 315.
5. Destroy the Beketovka airfield - 421.5.

COMBAT TASKS(BLUE)
The units of the 6th Army are defending the height 102. Luftwaffe objectives are to support ground troops and to attack targets in the enemy rear.
1. Destroy the tank convoy - 385.
2. Locate and destroy the enemy train. The train location - 458, 422, 421, 385.
3. Destroy the artillery in Bobrov - 350.3.
4. Destroy the enemy tanks and vehicles in Ivanovka - 457.5.
5. Destroy the Akatovka airfield - 279.5

7° Mission of WOI "THE ITALIAN CHALLENGE!!!!" Tournament

BRIEFING

Briefing Mission "Commando!":

Date: 01.01.1943

Time: 09:55

Weather: Overcast, light wind

Victory Conditions: To win the mission a team has to complete four tasks.

Victory can also be achieved by capturing an enemy aircraft at the front-line airfield.

To capture an enemy aircraft:

Land any aircraft at the designated location.
Take off after 5 seconds. If successful the "The saboteur has been deployed" message will appear.
After 5 minutes the enemy airfield will be captured.

The airfield will be available for 15 minutes. During this period a transport aircraft has to take off from the captured airfield. The aircraft needs to land at a friendly airfield to complete the task.
After 20 minutes the airfield will be targeted by enemy artillery. Note that a friendly airfield becomes available and is automatically resupplied after every 7th successful landing.

COMBAT TASKS(RED)

Destroy the railway station at Kalach - 379.7. Target trains, cars, and the station buildings.
Destroy the railway station at Lyapichev - 450.9. Target trains, cars, depots, and workshops.
Destroy the trains and enemy vehicles - 449.3. Target vehicles and trains near the bridge and the nearby train stations.
Locate and destroy enemy convoy at Verh. Rubezhny - 520.

COMBAT TASKS(BLUE)

1. Destory the fuel depots at Ryumino- Krasnoyarsky - 307.2.

2. Prevent the enemy from crossing the river at Verbovka - 415.2. Target boats and vehicles in Verbovka.

3. Our Intelligence reports that the enemy tank attack is scheduled for 11:15. Destroy the tanks before the attack begins - 450.1.

4. Destroy the depots at Shabalinsky - 521.

WINGS OF ITALY Organizers would express to all Pilots and Gentlemen the congratulation for their Performances and for Joining this Event.
With this fantastic last Mission, it ends the 1° Russians Vs Italians Tournament ,"THE ITALIAN CHALLENGE!!!!" .
Due to information collected with this first experience, Organisers will be in condition to prepare New Missions and Tours, with new rules and planeset, in order to render the Simulation more real and immersive.

therefore the MATCH is VALID for the Tournament!

I wish to say from the 72AG and Allies (FF, =M=, =RAF= and others) our Great Thanks to organizers and our opponents in this tournament!

It was great experience to fly this tournament. We got a lot of new thoughts about our tactics, we challenged our team spirit and it was very cool to fly like a virtual air army versus other well-organized opponents!

Thank you all and we hope to see you many times again in future!
