I'm on Windows 10 and the game runs the same it did with windows 7. Had some problems with the upgrade from 7 to 10, but I guess you're doing a clean install.

Have had zero issues with Win10, and i find it hard to believe i am saying that  :)

Exactly the same here.

I just hate to admit it......

I'm a complete dummy with computers and I managed to do the upgrade from 7 to 10

10 works very nice, no problems except that thing with the joy#s. That was eventually fixed by a Windows update and on the BoS side it's been addressed as well.

Only problem I have with win10 is with the system and compressed memory. After some time memory is full to 99% and is impossible to do anything (even turning off pc).

Only solution is pc restart. Im trying to figure what causes it. Sometimes it hapens after playing some games, sometimes only when browsing internet. Sometimes in the middle of playing BOS.

Its very annoying. I wanted to buy more ram , but people have this this issue with 12gb or more ram so I will stay with my 8GB for now. I tried to disable Superfetch but it didnt help.

That's means a clean install, no automatic update from XP to win10 like all other topic posters did. Because you are running XP [32bit???] it could be your system is rather old, so maybe drivers are not compatible to Win10, like motherboard/chipset drivers. Get Win10 64bit if your system can handle 64bit.

What Vcard did you buy, because this ancient XP32bits DirectX9 game engine from BoX does not need the last Vcard drivers, who are normally updated because of a new OS or another Battlefront or Call of duty release. I'm playing RoF from the release date until now, always updated the Vcard drivers and I never experienced any improvements.

Unless you have a partition already set up on your current hard drive, everything will be wiped clean. So make sure to back up everything to an external location beforehand.

However, if you do get a new hard drive to put Win 10 on, plug the new HD into the machine, install Win 10, then plug the old one in as a second drive to transfer the files over.

I am getting ready to do this upgrade... I see both of these posts are over two months old.. any updates on what I can expect? I am doing the upgrade because I just don't want to reinstall everything again if I can avoid it..

I upgraded two of my PCs

I know it goes without saying but make sure you backup everything before. I had a nightmare with one of them, kernal crashes and other problems.

Personally I think it's probably best to do a fresh install with Win 10 on a USB than the upgrade.

Also there is a lot of data mining stuff set as default which you should probably turn off.

Other than that it's actually a very nice OS when it works

For what it's worth, I recently upgraded from 7 to 10, doing a full install as opposed to the upgrade. I have a Logitech joystick, TrackIR, and CH pedals and they all were detected and work perfectly. I don't regret it at all, but like Emil says you should look up the privacy options to turn off once it's done installing.

Windows 10 works just fine. The only issue I've had with it is my monitor would never go to sleep because of joysticks. That was fixed a week or two ago though, so now I have no issues with it. Doing the install of Win 10 doesn't require anything of note. You stick in the disk and follow directions. Installing a Windows operating system is reasonably idiot proof at this point. If you want to keep your files from XP, you need to copy the stuff you want to keep to a flash drive or get a 2nd drive to install Win 10 on (unplug the XP one during Win 10 installation) and then copy what you want on the XP drive over once 10 is up and running.

There is one critically important question that must be asked though. What are your system specs? I ask because XP is so ancient that unless you built a much newer PC and then stuck XP on it, it probably has a 32bit CPU/Mobo/RAM which isn't compatible with much of anything these days in terms of hardware or software. Everything is 64 bit now except BoS and BoS is changing to 64bit. 32bit PC hardware went extinct around 2007, so anything newer than that should be fine.

I did the upgrade a couple months ago, and it went well enough. Small issues I noticed:

  • Firewall settings don't work for the programs I write. I have to open the port for all programs, as opposed to opening the ports for my program only.
  • Graphics driver instability. Shadowplay becomes unavailable more often than on win8. Not necessarily win10's fault, though, could be NVidia.
  • My Cygwin installation got borked. The problem was with user ownership and permissions. Deleting the old files to reinstall wasn't possible, even running as administrator. I had to fiddle with the file permission settings for a while before I got it right.

New good things I got win win10: Nothing whatsoever. For me win7 was OK as far as usability goes. Simple start menu, configuration tools were where I expected them. Win8 destroyed a lot of that, and Win10 is a step back in the right direction, but nothing substantial over win7. Good thing the upgrade is free, otherwise it wouldn't be worth the money, IMHO.

I disagree with that, the live tiles (entirely optional) for things like weather, alarms and reminders are pretty nice. Windows 7 didn't have those built in. It also has DX12. That may not be an issue right now, but it will be in about a year when DX12 becomes the standard everyone uses.

I had a lot of problems with Geforce Experience and Shadow play.
