I know it can be run at 21:9. How is the cockpit view? Saves a lot of view switching I guess.

I ran a 29" 2560x1080 screen for a while (21:9). I later switched to a 2560x1440 27" monitor (16:9) and only felt like I gained real estate. I felt more like I was missing top and bottom screen space then like I had extra FOV side to side. Now, I would think that running a 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide would feel like more real estate to my 27" but then again for less money you could just get into a  50ish" 4k display and have the same PPI as you would have with 4x 24" 1080p monitors tiled.  The only reason I'm running a 17"1440p over a 50+ 4k is G-sync, which I can't hype enough.

Found a Samsung S32E590C under the tree. Huge brownie points for the missus there.

Has a 32" curved screen with 1920 x 1080 native res.

Cockpit view is exceptional. Completely new life to the game for myself.

I think I want one too. Any screenshots may be?

Here's some video from when I bought my LG 25UM65 Ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor. I love it, best monitor I've ever owned, I just wish I could afford the 34inch curved version!  :)

Nice vid Prangster.

Here's some cockpit looks Bussard... Am liking the ability to fly formation without having to zoom in to view engine gauges. Also with using TiR I can now really duck/move my head around the canopy bars.

Can you or someone hype this G-sync to me? I hear it is great but why?

I'm currently using 27" monitor (60 Hz) with 2560x1440 resolution. My fps is around 50-60 usually (low level dogfight over Stalingrad with 4 Yaks vs 4 110s and it drops down to 39). I don't notice much of difference with vsync on or off.

I have seen some nice looking 35" Acer Predator Ultrawide screens that come with G-sync. Cheaper one is 2560x1080 and the other is 3440x1440. Both Acer screens are still expensive (+1000 euros). I'm tempted to get a big ultrawide screen but Gsync narrows other, cheaper brands off. Do I want G-sync or would a other high refresh rate monitor do just as great?

The beauty of G-Sync is in low frame rates, which becomes more important when using demanding resolutions like 2k or 4k. When the frames drop low Gsync keeps the games buttery smooth, I find myself running much higher settings then I normally would. It's also especially helpful since these types of titles tend to have frame rate issues due to cpu not gpu.

Damn it... that comment might just cost me 1000 euros ;)

Ooww... this is hard. The only G-Sync 34-35" Ultrawide monitors I can find are Acer Predators. But here is the problem.

The X34 is 3440x1440 but it completely sold out and not available for atleast 2 months!

The Z35 model is available, but comes with resolution of 2560x1080. I'm sure this resolution would suit me fine and most likely I won't be able to run IL2 in 3440x1440 (I prefer smooth play over eye candy). But will I regret the lower resolution after few years?

And the choice for Z35 would be easier if the price difference wouldn't be just 100 euros.

Two months can be a surprisingly short time  ;)

X34 is the monitor you want.

Against your advices (with no disrespect to them) I got the Z35. After couple of hours on Wings of Liberty, I can say that this thing is suberb, despite the lower resolution. What a huge improvement to my previous 2k monitor. Flying, tracking enemies and indentifying them when they pass by at high speed has gotten so much better.

Can you see the difference the G-syn makes during game play?

Congrats.

Here is a little update about the Acer Z35 monitor: Do not buy it!

I had some quality problems with first two monitors. The first one would shut down after couple of minutes so maybe a issue with faulty condensators. The second one had dead pixels.

The third one was working all right. But this monitor had some serious ghosting issues. Actually I have never seen such ghosting in any of my monitors. In IL-2 you would notice this when you look at a dial in your instrument panel. When you turn your head, the white marks and numbers on the black dial would fade out and brighten again when you keep your head still. This is more noticeable in a game with lot of black, like Elite Dangerous where the stars would fade out every time you turn your ship or head. It is super annoying! I tried all the settings in the monitor and only ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) setting would remove this ghosting. The ULMB mode did not work with higher refresh rates than 120Hz. But you can't use G-Sync if you use ULMB!!! And there was a huge differece in IL-2 gameplay in G-Sync vs ULMB.

I'm not sure if this ghosting issue is a fault or a feature, but for a monitor costing 1200 euros it is unacceptable. This monitor was advertised as a gaming monitor but in my opinion ghosting issue makes it unsuitable for gaming.

I'm sure going to miss that big wide screen (the X34 monitor looks actually rather small compared to this) and super smooth gameplay.

I also had a chat with a guy from Acer and he told me that there has been quality issues with the X34 monitors. Apparently Acer has three factories producing them and one of the factories has quality problems with their monitors.

I'll guess I keep my old monitor for a while and see what other monitors come available later.

I have the Acer XR34, 3440 x 1440. which for me is doing fantastic.  I didn't need the G-Synch really and wasnt going to pay that much to have it....I have one 970 card and I'll SLI with another one if I want more fps.  ....Messing around making a video ...which is a work in progress....but this is an example of the wide look...

AOC 34'' 3440x1440 with 980 Ti.

I just switched back to a 27'' 2560x1440 G-Sync. I'm waiting 2016-17-18 for a 35''+ 4K G-Sync screen with a nVidia Pascal chip.

:salute: Looks really nice and clear on those close ups....Thanks for sharing....

Yeah 4k 60+hz 48" screen would be the jam with G-sync. a 48" 4K is like having 4 tiled 24" 1080p monitors without the bezels.

Just got a Dell U3415W. So far so good.

I've been considering of buying this monitor. How it's been in BoS?

-I can see that your GPU is better than mine but hows the fps with that resolution?

-Do you see ground texture shimmering?

-Have you looked how much VRAM that resolution uses in BoS?

Well, I ordered Dell u3415w and it should arrive tomorrow so I get my answers then :).

I have read so much positive about ultrawide in gaming that I have to test it. Although I suspect that my single overclocked gtx 970 is not enough for that resolution.

Got my Dell yesterday and it is absolutely awesome.

But it needs another gtx 970 to run BoS good enough, single is not sufficient as I suspected. This is getting expensive to me

If you can wait a 3 months or so? Pascal will be out and you can get one(970) dirt cheap on Ebay...reduce your resolution a bit for now.  I bet it still looks amazing with a lower res...just for now.

Yeah, that would be a wise thing to do.

But I can`t wait, it just looks too damn gorgeous
