332ndAtomic_359 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 im just curious if they plan on releasing desert warfare, i herd from a source that they planed on it but i havnt herd anything.
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 31, 2015 1CGS Posted December 31, 2015 Check back next year. This sort of question has been asked about a thousand times in the last couple of weeks.
332ndAtomic_359 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 haha im sorry! i just havnt seen anything on it, and im not in any hurry! so i hope they take there time with the development with everything they are doing.
Feathered_IV Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 The modding team who work on the Cliffs of Dover franchise are doing a Mediterranean package that might be out this coming year. All reports of a similar product coming from the BoS developers however is purely conjecture at this point in time. There seems to be a strong feeling that by the process of elimination, the Med will be the one theatre that will somehow fix everything. Simply because it hasn't been done before.
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I'm guessing that the devs will stick with the Eastern Front for a while yet but who's to say what they have planned next. No plans have been announced. I would expect that they will release Battle of Moscow, take a breather, and then announce their next project some months after that.
SYN_Speck Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 It would seem logical to continue with the Eastern Front. But I've been wondering ever since I noticed the desert skin in the F-4 hangar.. It seems like a nice little hint, kind of like the I-16 that lurked in the ROF hangar background screen for a long time.

Some Bf109s due to arrive in North Africa were instead diverted to the Stalingrad battle and some of them retained their desert scheme.
andyw248 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 To me it seams there are two likely projects, based on the cost of development: Kuban - most of the aircraft have already been released or can easily be upgraded (e.g. FW 190, Bf 109 G, Stuka, La-5 F, Yak-9). New aircraft can be added (P-39). Most of the work would go into the terrain (mountains), some effort might be required to implement sea warfare. Mediterranean Theatre - there's more opportunity for new aircraft (Spitfire, Hurricane, Lightning, A-20, Beaufort/Beaufighter), while there is also a lot of opportunity to re-use the existing planes. Sea warfare would be a new scenario to be implemented. Terrain shouldn't be too difficult - there isn't too much green or big cities out there.
Finkeren Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 From the plane set so far, it seems pretty clear to me, that the devs want to make a Mediterrainean expansion at some point. The P-40E, the Macchi and litterally every single other Axis plane will fit right in. Still, I don't think the devs are done with the GPW yet. I think the next scenario chances are 70% Kursk, 15% Kuban/Krim, 10% some other scenario, 5% nothing at all.
Dakpilot Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 +1 for Kuban it was one of the more popular maps in original IL-2 and featured historically some of the largest and most intense tactical air combat add in historical Spit MkV, A-20 and P-39 and the 'base' aircraft are enhanced for next expansion to the Med/North Africa with a 'full' planeset available if you have previous BoS/BoM/BoK Kursk map offers nothing new against Kuban, mountains, shipping operations, torpedo ops etc. and is in similar timeframe as Kurk with a much longer Campaign Cheers Dakpilot

Frankly it´s hard for me to get excited about Kuban if most planes are already in BOS/BOM. Perhaps they should think of making a map pack (either free or paid). I guess paid map packs would fragment the MP community further, which isn't good.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Not quite the same aircraft set - it would probably bring at least an Airacobra, Yak-9 and perhaps Spitfire, in addition to a two-seat Il-2 (properly) and a Boston. Axis would get the 109G-6 and a newer Fw-109 as well at the very least. Quite the show, really.
Cybermat47 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I'm really interested in paying for a Mediterranean theatre expansion when a free one is almost certainly on the way. Defence of the Reich (night and day) is something I'd pay big money for, but unlikely to be the next projecf. New Guinea would be great, but it isn't the most well-known theatre. And yes, both these options would add the RAAF to the game Honestly, Kuban sounds great. As long as I get a G-6 and/or Hs-123 and/or Po-2 with Female pilots, I'll be happy.

Just a note, not all Night Bomber Regiments flying the U-2 were all-women (or even had women in many cases), and even 586 (IIRC) IAP where Litvak flew went mixed after losing its commanding officer. Just a little nod to the lads who flew the Kukuruznik since they get overlooked as often as the women who flew fighter, bomber and attack. Edited December 31, 2015 by Lucas_From_Hell
Cybermat47 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 ^^^ I'm sorry to say that I didn't know that. Thanks for filling me in
Dennis_Nedry Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 My take is 2016/17 Kursk 2017/18 North Africa, could be a number of Battles
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Me neither until recently, I had the thought but only got to know more about it once I stumbled onto an interview on the website Ya Pomnyu (available in English as well) with a pilot who started on the Su-2, was transferred to night bombing on the U-2 then finished the war flying fighter with the Airacobra. Some career. EDIT: This one here http://iremember.ru/en/memoirs/airmen/kolyadin-victor-ivanovich/ Edited December 31, 2015 by Lucas_From_Hell
3instein Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Anything with a Spitfire or Hurricane would be brilliant, in this game they would be a joy to fly. Mick.
L3Pl4K Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Westeros could be aslo a nice scenario. The Starks have FW190, Lennister BF109 etc.
xvii-Dietrich Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 The devs have hinted at a PBY-Catalina and Pacific theatre. Ref: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/7-questions-developers/?p=297257 Draw your own conclusions.

They have the technology to do it built already as they have flying boats in RoF but it also says to me that there are no immediate plans. Edited January 1, 2016 by ShamrockOneFive

All we can do is hope.
Feathered_IV Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Presumably driveable PT boats would be possible too.
Cybermat47 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Presumably driveable PT boats would be possible too. That would be great, especially as a recent game called PT Boats apparently lets your command every small motor boat except for PT Boats XD
SYN_Speck Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 And soon there'll be a P-40 Flying Tigers skin...
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 So far they have built 4 maps, and its takes about 18 months to do so.
