Loving the Sim

Don´t take the CH pedals. They are much too close. I did ditch mine after a week. Take the Saitek, or invest in good quality pedals.

Get the VBK t-bar pedals .work a treat in this sim

What's with the default trimming setup

There is a compromise for when an airstart is done in mission

I guess the perfect situation would be to have default start trims individually set for both ground start and airstart, but setting trims is part of the pre-flight procedure

One way to solve this is to allocate/map one button to all 'centre trim functions'

being able to have one buttons/key allocated to multiple functions allows a lot of options

for (just an) example Start engine, reset all trims axis, close canopy, can all be mapped to one key and not necessarily the default one leaving the original single commands present

That makes sense Dak. I'll have to try it instead of always having to press ctrl+t in the VVS planes that have default trims or resetting the default stabilizers in the LW planes. I'll just set up one button to do my whole 'pre-flight checklist'.

I've been playing more RoF lately because I've been having spotting issues in BoS. I find the distant contacts that look like tiny planes in RoF easier to chase after. In BoS all my contacts disappear if I'm more than 2km away. I have serious issues when I BnZ and then come back down after my zoom and my target goes down to the deck and disappears. I know they're not lost in the trees because I tested in single player and every plane disappears even in the air when I travel about 2km out. Seems like a ridiculously short distance. No dots or anything.

I've done some searching, seen stuff about gamma (doubt that'll help on summer maps) or maybe SweetFX. I don't know. I thought the default vis distance was 10km. I have the graphics cranked up so it's certainly not my system.

I'm afraid you're not the only one struggling with keeping contact. Lowering your gamma can help as it does make the "dots" a lot darker against the sky, however that makes it harder to spot targets that are on the deck. I'm considering in using sweetfx/reshade which does something similar but with a much more satisfying appearance. I haven't gotten round to it as I can't find a decent enough tutorial to lend me a hand.

The spotting issue is a well known by the davs, in fact scroll a little down the threads and you'll find a recent thread about it.

If you want to mess around with SweetFX simply copy paste another instance of the game to another folder and MoD/mess with that one

There is no problem having multiple instances of the game, just don't try to log into more than one at the same time.

Much more re-assuring than screwing your "vanilla" working game and trying to 'fix' it, just delete and start again if you have issues  :)

There are several tutorials on the forum. It is not terribly complicated and well worth your time to install.

Lots of useful info in this thread but there are others as well. Use the search function.................

As I don't want to open a new thread, I'll write it here.

I also love this sim, I've built a PC specifically for it and I'm damn happy when I play this game.

I've just started playing MP and I'm also having a great time.

I also thank the developers for the continuous updates, this is really awesome and I can't wait to buy BOM (waiting for final release).

Cheers
