VR-DriftaholiC Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 (edited) I wasn't sure how to describe this in the title but in many sims the prop wash is enough to allow you to lift the tail off the ground and balance the aircraft in one spot, essentially flying the tail. I can't do this in the sim, either the prop wash is to weak or the brakes are too weak or both. I notice in the dev questions thread they said they tuned the brake force around the landing roll out of the plane, this seems odd since I doubt the pilots would stand on the brakes when landing. A safer bet would be to tune the roll out distance to 75% of the braking force. Edited December 30, 2015 by driftaholic
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I can raise the tail of the ground when stationary for some planes. But in general u cant because the breaks are too weak. U can see that it works if you get stuck on the snow or dirt
TP_Jacko Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 What sort of aircraft and sim did you use.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Well, just tried with two aircraft, and it worked: 1) With the P40-E, set fuel to 90%, set parking brakes, right rudder ( almost full ), start applying power and push the stick fwd progressively until the tail lifts... 2) With the BF109 E-7, you do not have parking brakes, but setting again fuel to 90%, applying both toe brakes full, and then increasing the throttle and giving full stick fwd, eventually helping with a bit of stabilator too... It works :-)
HagarTheHorrible Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 When the sim first came out and there wasn't so much to do I used to have fun in the LaGG 3 lifting the tail, balancing the aircraft on it's main gear, holding it on the brakes and doing a controlled 360 degree turn.
Ace_Pilto Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Reminds me of "drifting" in the F4U in old Il-2. I used to have a hell of a time making a nuisance of myself doing that.
