VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I believe this topic has come up before but I don't think there has yet been any explanation. If you can point me in the right direction, please do. When making your run with wind conditions and all parameters are input to the site, and the approach is not directly into or with the wind, when you change from View to Manual, there is a jump in the view either to the left or right of target, depending on the wind direction. If you have not planned for this, it causes last second attempts to realign, which for the most part are too late. I try to plan accordingly but it doesn't always work out. What I don't understand is why the wind effect is not part of the View calc so when you switch to Manual there is no jump thus avoiding last second adjustments. Is there a historical basis for this in WWII bombsites? If so, great. If not, why is View calculated differently than Manual (or Auto in the He-111 for that matter)?
F/JG300_Gruber Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I asked Han about this issue and this is something that will be corrected in the future.
TP_Jacko Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I imagine the Auto accounts for the wind drift. When you switch to manual you need to account for it. There are some rules around maybe tis will also help http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=317. I did us it in IL2-1946
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) It's a little different Jacko. Auto and Manual account for wind, it's only the View that does not, that's the issue. I don't remember 1946 having a View as part of the bombsite, thought there was just the bombsite itself but I could be wrong. Thanks Gruber. That and having the map available to the bombardier would complete level bombing. Edited December 29, 2015 by MrStick

I did us it in IL2-1946 Bombsight Table 2 has no use in BoS, what this soft do is done automatically be bombsight "computor" based in the dialed IAS and Altitude. That and having the map available to the bombardier would complete level bombing. There I access bombsight with N key and map (full screen) with M, making easy alternate between two.
