How to assign Squad or Personal Aircraft #'s online?

If u mean a custom graphic on the plane then for the basic game no u cant.

 

But if u have a squad and want to put in extra time to each have personal decals, it is possible by making custom skins. (I know in theory how to do this but have not tried so search how and u will find).

 

As for why this is not a standard feature..... I guess it lies with just getting a game out there with limited man power. I'm sure if this project gets more interest the finer details such as this will appear

Decals for aircraft are not posible within the game engine. It's been like that since back when Neoqb made Rise Of Flight.

There are a lot if skins available for different aircraft and some have sets of numbers for squad use. You need to all save them to the skins folder and select them from the custom skin tab when in game.

Right now the only way to do so is making custom skins for each #, and ALL squad members MUST download and install all the skins. People who dont download the skin will see the default one when playing online.

I think so too. But I've been logning for it since RoF in 2009, so I've kinda gotten used to it not being there.

It's something I cribbed about (and many others) in RoF many times... they never managed to include that function in the game.

I suspect we may be in the same boat here as well
