Rather a generalisation.

There's one of requiem's brilliant videos somewhere that shows him taxiing with great precision.

Yes, no generalization, taxi with iL-2, Stuka, Yak-1... is very easy, with Pe-2 in winter runways is a nightmare, specially if are wind in the mission, besides stuck in the snow, the plane jump more than a Kangaroo, sometimes loosing parts.  :)

Pe-2 is definitely a very interesting aircraft to taxi. The visibility absolutely sucks to the front. I've learned to taxi it by looking at the directions of the ruts on the taxiway (via the floor window). This means you must taxi very slowly and check out the turns ahead to ensure you don't ram someone .

Pe2 is just bigger, but for the rest I won't label it the hardest to taxi, that honor (for me) goes to lagg and Yak. For vision purposes, they are all mostly the same, but LA5 and 190 must be quite interesting. I am thinking to buy one of them but seems like only buying both will give you premium account and I don't plan to spend that money now...

How did they avoid the bomb craters on the runway that didn't get filled in because everybody was riding on the wings?  Oh, I'm sorry, they filled the bomb craters but left all the deep ruts next to the taxi ways?  I understand now.

The mechanics on the wings were to guide the pilots because the taxi ways were just small enough for the wheel's to sit on(smaller than they are now in-game by atleast half) theirj ob was to get them to the runway.

And yes, they would fix the runway but not the edges, a Competent Pilot Shouldnt be driving into Holes in the ground, The ideology behind pilots was supposed to be superior,so much so they were worth more than the planes they flew.

And this is true for all nations (Not sure about USSR) but if the pilot is an idiot, well then hes not worth it. Besides, look at some of the runways they built back in ww2, if they put those, word for word in the game, landing would be 100%harder(funner) .

Oddly, I find the Pe-2 one of the easier aircraft to taxi, winter or summer.  Not the same issues as the 110 by a long shot.  I understand they may have different prop rotations, weight, etc.  I can even keep it on the taxiway.   ;)

In many of the spawn points the stuka is glued to the ground if equipped with a heavy load.

It is definitely easy to taxi. It's just super hard to see because it is as wide as the entire taxiway so you can't effectively zig zag to see what's down the taxiway.

Not in a 110, the engines rotate to the right yet the toque pulls left? Yet in this video the props 'counter rotate inward'. Just fast forward to 07m:27s and rapidly pause and un-pause as the plane comes towards you.

The later G models had DB605 B engine variant for use on twin engined A/C which had different prop gearing, is it possible that these engines on Bf110G were counter rotating?

*EDIT* I was maybe thinking of Me 410 with DB603 engine which was produced with counter rotating props, I dont think DB601 or DB605 was ever produced to give counter rotating props?

I suspect more of a camera stroboscopic effect as the port engine seems to rotates faster than the starboard one.

Only a video showing the starting of both engine could gives us an accurate information on this.

On this video you clearly see that the propeller looks like it is spinning backward but that is just an optical illusion from the action being filmed with a camera.

Also look at the very picture of your avatar (don't take it personaly though, it was the first picture google found with idle engines ;) ):

Messerschmitt-Bf-110E-Zerstorer-ZG1-wasp

Both propellers are identical and pitching in the same direction, if they were counter rotative, the blade pitch between propellers would be a mirror image of each other.

Same with this late G model :

AFAIK Germany (and most other nations) were not renown to make counter rotative engines during WW2, mainly due to mass production policy, and I heard that the P38 was quite a groundbreaker for this time.

Now on the snow subject, Yes, getting stuck in it with the 110 is just super annoying.

And as there is no tugs in game to help us, we should be able to get out of it by ourselves.

To me it looks like the plane that would most likely get stuck in the snow would be the 190 with it's tiny wheels.
