vee1234 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Bought on Steam - IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad. Was working fine for a few days and now when I try to launch the game you get the opening screen, then the next screen where there is the small crossfire icon on the top right of the screen, and then it goes to a black screen, you can hear all the sounds but the computer is frozen, no keys work, cannot exit the black screen or perform any functions at all. Computer has to be manually restarted with the reset button. Steam update was recently done but still same problem (was happening before and after update). All other games including IL-2 Cliffs of Dover working fine, it's just this one Stalingrad game that is not working. I've made sure that the folder is not read-only. I've tried to run as administrator, starting up directly from the il2.exe file in the game folder and neither helped, still the same problem. Saw these suggestions in other posts. Also deleted the "current" files as suggested in the FAQ but that didn't work either. Help anyone?
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) I'm not on steam but when mine did that after the last update I had to go here: C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\startup.CFG and change this to my screen resolution. The update changed it and I could not change it from the start up GUI. [KEY = graphics] adapter = 0 bloom_enable = 0 desktop_center = 1 fps_limit = 60 full_height = 1080 full_width = 1920 fullscreen = 1 gamma = 0.90000 hdr_enable = 0 land_tex_lods = 1 mgpu_compatible = 0 multisampling = 1 or_enable = 0 or_ipd = 1.00000 or_lens_offs = 1.00000 preset = 2 ssao_enable = 0 vsync = 1 win_height = 768 win_width = 1280 [END] Edited December 26, 2015 by Blackwolf
No_85_Gramps Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Once your screen goes black turn your monitor off, then on, and see what happens. I'm having the same issue with games using D3D. Once my screen goes black turning the monitor off/on fixes it, until the next start. I borrowed a monitor from a friend and the issue went away. Guess I'll be looking for a new monitor. This may not be the same issue you are having but it sounds similar. Only happens with BOS, ROF, and DCS. Everything else works fine.
Amyel Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Try to turn off crossfire for this game - i had similar problems in the past. With some games i had to turn it off globally (for all applications) and check if OK if you run it just with one card. Also - i've noticed that launcher.exe is gone when patch 1.06 (the newest one) has been downloaded by steam. If this doesn't help i'd recommend to uninstall current drivers and clean system and then install newest drivers but not crimson version as it has been suggested in one of the topics as causing problems as well.
