AndyJWest Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 A Fw 190 should make for some interesting dogfights at least - but they have a long way to go to produce a proper WW2 air combat sim - if that is their intention. As for 'realistic flight models', I'll believe that when everyone agrees that they are right.
Krupi Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 It was a joke But I am very excited, but it will take a long time and there sims are very expensive.
JG4_Continuo Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 As for 'realistic flight models', I'll believe that when everyone agrees that they are right. Never ever will that happen.... be sure... Well apart from the butcherbird? Yeah, they have announced the DCS: Fw 190 Good times are here at last CEM and realistic Flight Models, plus a new landscape engine Where? Show me, Show me, Show me!!!! Sounds interesting!

AndyJWest Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Wokka wokka wokka... B) DCS Black Shark - the original, not the DCS World BS2 version. I'll probably upgrade to BS2 at some point, but for now this will keep me entertained. A bargain at $9.99, and curiously it seems to be cheaper to buy this and then the BS2 upgrade than to buy the complete BS2.
kristorf Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 What was left of my Hurricane after I got hit by a falling bomb when I was just off the ground while landing, aircraft trunddled on for a bit so missed the blast. Same aircraft 15 minutes earlier (My personal Hurricane) 1

AndyJWest Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 More fun on the Syndicate server. Fog over the continental coast. All the way up to 9,000 ft or so, where it was solid overcast. Lots of turbulence, too. Not the easiest weather to fly in. Having sunk a U-boat with a Felix, I decided to bomb a factory with a D.H.4 from 7,500 ft - at which height I could see the ground below me, but not that far in front: it needed careful mapreading to find the target: Not bad... Back on terra firma (after being chased by an Albatros, which couldn't keep up), I decided it was time to hunt the Hun. My first effort was in a Camel, which was awkward as with no visible horizon it seemed a toss-up whether I'd stall and spin, or over-rev the engine first, though eventually I managed to empty my guns in the general direction of a DFW bomber from 100 ft or so (like I said, it was turbulent... ). The S.E.5.A seemed a more sensible choice in these conditions: Soon enough I was bimbling around over Hunland, just below the cloud layer, trying to find a target through the murk. And what did I find? An Albatros, seemingly oblivious. Naturally, I pounced, though he must have spotted me at the last minute: I seem to have hit him, as he lost an aileron. I left him to scoot for home, not wanting to chase him down on his side of the lines: Sadly, my flight came to an abrupt end soon after, when my S.E.5.A and a Pfalz D.III demonstrated that two aircraft can't occupy the same bit of air at the same time, which led to me plunging rapidly earthwards, shedding wings and other useful bits... Special thanks to the mission maker (Syn Vander I expect) for giving us such 'interesting' weather, and apologies to the Pfalz pilot - though he seemed to come out of it better than I did...

Thanks Andy, I liked the weather too. I created the mission, but not the weather. I think SYN_Kollwitz added some variants, including this one. Finding ships to bomb was also a bit more difficult, which made it more fun. I have a special "vintage mission" in the works that will focus on D.H.4s bombing distant targets around Bruges...should be fun! Edited April 19, 2013 by SYN_Vander
AndyJWest Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Autumn 1917. A lone Pfalz IIIa sets off on patrol. Flak this side of the line - it must be Tommy: As I close in, I recognise an R.E.8 - I rake him with fire. The pilot slumps over the controls - but the gunner fires another defiant burst! He's hit my engine, which soon quits. Luckily, I'm close to home. If I judge this right, I can land on the airfield. Oops, I'm landing short. Gently does it. %&@#*#! Could have been worse. I'm alive...

A bargain at $9.99, and curiously it seems to be cheaper to buy this and then the BS2 upgrade than to buy the complete BS2. Dont buy upgrade. It's totally a mess, just buy new bs2 even if it costs few bucks more on sale. Search their forums and see what huge problems people are having with it.
AndyJWest Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 The free DCS Sukhoi 25T now has a 6DOF cockpit. No mouseclick controls, but a real improvement visibility wise.
